QUEEN ELIZABETH OLYMPIC PARK OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Page 2: MIPIM 2011 Brochure

A NEW PIECE OF CITY AT THE HEART OF A GLOBAL CAPITAL The Park will bring together the best of London, all in one place. At its core will be the creation of family-focused neighbourhoods; making the Park a top visitor destination; ensuring the venues provide a lasting sporting legacy; the creation of commercial and job opportunities; and helping to stitch together the area’s communities through new transport connections.

ONE PARK, TWO DISTINCT CHARACTERSQueen Elizabeth Olympic Park will provide something for everyone. An urban entertainment plaza in the south, based around the Stadium, the Aquatics Centre and the 114 m tall ArcelorMittal Orbit. The north of the Park features a river valley, centred around waterways, parkland and green space, and offering outdoor activities including play areas and cycle paths.

FAMILY NEIGHBOURHOODSFive neighbourhoods with much- needed family homes will be at the heart of this new piece of London. Responding to market, community and public demand, there will be an emphasis on family homes and a network of facilities, including new schools, nurseries, health centres as well as faith and community spaces to support them. Work is due to start on the first neighbourhood in the north-east of the Park in 2013.

INNOVATION AND CREATIVITYA new campus-style business district focused around the Press and Broadcast Centres will sit in the north-west of the Park. The area will offer affordable and flexible office space to encourage successful cutting edge industries to base themselves on the Park, enabling them to develop and grow.

This area will build on the traditional character of London’s neighbourhoods featuring tree-lined avenues, intimate streets and mews houses, quiet terraced homes and open squares.

A new east–west street is to extend from the development through to Leyton and Hackney Wick, helping to stitch together the diverse communities on either side of the valley. The development will include a walk-in health centre for doctors and dentists, plus two nurseries and a 150m2 multi-purpose community space.

In April 2011, the Legacy Company will formally start the process to appoint a development partner for the site. For more information on this opportunity email us: [email protected]

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s first new community will be set between the Athletes Village and the Velodrome as well as bordering the green, open spaces of the north parklands. The area will be focused on family homes with a high proportion of:
