IMPORTANT INFORMATION
One of our great privileges and duties as a Catholic
Community is to pray for each other, especially for requests
from members of our Parish family. We are looking for
people who wish to be part of our Parish Prayer Line. It is
easy to become part of this group. Just call the parish office
and give your name and email address. As prayer requests
are submitted you will receive an email asking to add that
request to your daily prayer. If you need prayers, there are
several ways to request this. One is to use the Mary
Immaculate App available on the application stores, or if you
visit the church, add a written request into the Prayer box by
the Mary alcove, or send an email to Mary Immaculate email
address. Your request will then be added to the prayer line.
Thank you!
September starts the beginning of many new programs for children, youth and families at Mary Immaculate Parish. Due to the restrictions with the COVID-19 Pandemic, some necessary changes have been made to accommodate these restrictions by adapting an online
format.
On Sunday September 13, 2020, we started Virtual Sunday Friends. It is held on Sundays at 11am for families who are not able to come to mass due to COVID-19. For the past couple of weeks, children and families have been able to join virtually to listen and reflect on the Sunday’s Gospel passage.
Also, we will be starting a Youth Ministry at Mary Immaculate Parish with our first event starting in October 2020. The events will be posted on the Mary Immaculate Facebook page. The group will be for the youth 13-18 years of age. The group is entitled, “IGNITE”. Our vision is to grow in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. Due to the present COVID-19 restrictions, activities will be online. If you are interested in joining either Virtual Sunday Friends or the Youth Ministry at Mary Immaculate Parish, please call Donna at (519) 455-3217 ext. 29.
Let us pray that God continues to guide and protect us as we journey through this unprecedented time.

Coordinator of Family & Youth Ministry
October is a Month of Multiple Blessings
As we begin the October Marian devotion I appeal that we pray the Rosary and other Marian prayers daily asking for the intercession of the Virgin Mary for God to have mercy on the world and grant His healing. We are people of Faith; we should not be tired of praying or exercise fear out of frustration but trust that our mother Mary will obtain the desire of our hearts from God. She is a mother who listens attentively to the cry of her children and brings our petitions to Christ. We can imagine how apprehensive some families are hearing about the recent increase in the number of confirmed cases of the virus. I share the concern of these families and I ask that we keep all our children, the educators and the parents in our prayers for the peace of God in their hearts as they continue in their studies in their respective schools during this pandemic. Let us continue to hold one another in prayer for strength in our faith.
This is also the month of God’s blessing as we thank him for his numerous gifts. Next weekend is Thanksgiving Weekend. God has been good to us as a nation during this pandemic because it could be worse. As we celebrate thanksgiving let us remember the support that we always give to our Parish. The thanksgiving money remains in the Parish to meet the financial obligations in the Parish. You have always been generous and we count on your love for the growth of the Parish. During this Pandemic, we have been able to receive financial support through Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) which has helped to keep the Staff and the Parish going. In addition, from April to August, the bishop magnanimously relieved every parish of the payment of the diocesan assessment which reduced our financial burden. However, we have resumed the remittance of the diocesan assessment in September and we do not know for how long CEWS lasts, so I appeal for your financial support for the Parish through the Thanksgiving Envelopes that you will receive this week. May the Lord bless your generous hearts. Amen.
NB: Please remember to bring canned food to support the clients of SSVP. On Thanksgiving day.
Father Augustine
Dear Mary Immaculate Parishioners, This year has
proved to be challenging for us all in our restricted ability to
attend mass and participate in parish activities; therefore, Saint
Vincent de Paul (SSVP) wanted to update you on this year’s
Angel Tree. With there being so many unknowns moving
forward, we have decided to follow the lead of other SSVP‘s
and register children, families and individuals for gift cards
rather than gifts. We won’t have angels on the tree this year.
Instead, we will have a collection box. We ask that if you plan
to support Angel Tree, you do so in the form of gift cards. We
will also accept cash or e-transfers to the parish noting the
funds are tagged for Angel Tree. If you have any questions you
can contact Myra Johnston at (519) 282 1055. Thank you
for your ongoing support. We hope that we will all be together
soon. Until then, stay safe and healthy. God Bless.
Sisters of the Precious Blood: Our CWL and the Par-
ish are holding our annual collection for the Sisters of the Precious Blood October 10/11 and October 17/18. We will not be accepting food at this time. Please place your donations of cash or cheque in an envelope clearly marked Sisters of the Precious Blood. Cheques should be made out to the Sisters of the Pre-cious Blood. If you cannot make it to Church you could mail it to the Church. The CWL will facilitate getting the donations to the Sisters. God Bless you.
