GENERAL INFORMATION

MJCC l Find Yourself at the J

Dear friends,

Can you believe it’s already summer time? It’s that glorious season when we soak up as much Vitamin D as our bodies will allow without sunburn! It’s the season of long evenings, lemonade stands and playing in the sprinkler! It’s also the season of summer camp, swim lessons and bathing suits of all shapes and sizes!

With so many ways to enjoy the outdoors it can’t hurt to get in a great workout in some air conditioning. You’ll find all the first-rate classes and open play times you love throughout the year available to you all summer. In this guide, you’ll find a bevy of new Youth Fitness Classes available to kids most mornings during the week, a great and full schedule of swim lessons for all levels, and of course, the new pool float will be in the pool Thursdays at 5:45 pm between July 11 and August 22 and the second Sunday of each month at 3:00 pm.

If you prefer a more relaxed summer, then help yourself to a chair on the back pool deck where there’s a bit of shade to cool you off. Why not bring the books to read for the Hadassah Book Club this summer? July’s book is “My Russian Grandmother and her American Vacuum” by Meir Shalev and August’s book is “Inside, Outside” by Herman Wouk. Or get started on the Portland Jewish Book Month selection for November, “Nemesis” by Philip Roth.

However you decide to spend your time this summer, we’re sure glad you’re spending some of it with us at the MJCC. We promise to be here for you with a big welcoming smile.

Warmly,

Jordana LevenickMJCC Operations Manager
