ATHLETCIS CARNIVAL FIELD EVENTS

Last week’s athletics carnival field events were very successful with so many

students taking the opportunity to participate and earn valuable house points.

Despite the cold and sometimes wet weather we managed to complete all events

prior to the track events of yesterday. Although there were no records broken,

we saw some terrific results by many students.

HALF YEARLY REPORTS

You should have received your

child’s half yearly report today.

Please take the time to read it

and discuss it with your child.

These reports will give you

valuable information as to how

your child is progressing. If

your require any clarification on

any areas of the report, be sure

to contact the class teacher as

they will be happy to discuss

and areas of concern that you

may have.

Week 9 has shaped up as a busy one beginning with the great day at Picton Oval

for our Athletics Carnival. Even with it being terribly cold it was impressive how it

came together on the day. Students had a great time and there were many parents

who came to watch. Our K-1 students attending the carnival for the first time

added a new dimension, and it was terrific to see them in their races.

Lorin Nicholson rang this morning to say how much he is appreciating the cold in

South Australia on his “Climb Your Own Mountain” tour. I think he is in shock

being a Queenslander. It will be colder here when he arrives tomorrow night for

performances at most of our schools. Notes went home last week and I remind

parents of the $3 cost for Thursday mornings performance.

Be sure to take the opportunity to discuss reports at parent interviews. I have

read all reports and it is clear the teachers know their students and how they learn.

Take the opportunity to discuss how to support learning at home and also to

understand how the class assessments support the grading in the report.

It seems not a week goes by without a student (or several) using the cyber world

of social media incorrectly. It does concern me that this happens as filters stop it

happening at school .

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL NEWS

What a fabulous day it was at Picton Oval yesterday. Despite the cold weather there was lots of activity

with students participating in championship events and novelty events. This year was the first time our

Kindergarten and Year 1 students joined us for part of the day. They thoroughly enjoyed their races and

watching the older students running. A big thank you to all the parents who came out to support this event

and a special thank you to those who helped with timekeeping and in the canteen. These days cannot run

without your help.
