On a cool Saturday morning the MSPS cricket team played against Railwaytown. By the end of the game Alex Thomas had made a smashing 31 runs, 4 wickets in a row and a catch. The other players who scored 30 runs were Nick Devoy and Isaac Stokes. What a great day played by all players.

YEAR 6 ASIA DAY

Last Wednesday Year 6

students celebrated Asian

culture as a culmination of

their HSIE unit. The students came to

school dressed to suit the theme. The

students shared information about the

country they had researched with the class,

participated in some traditional Asian

games and shared a fabulous Asian

banquet for lunch. After lunch the

students went to the oval to test out the

kites they had designed and made as part of

a homework task. Two kites in particular

soared high in the sky for a number of

minutes—well done Doyle and Sydney. Ms

Muir and Mr Earl would like to thank all

the parents and grandparents who helped

out with costumes, food and their kite

making skills to make Year 6 Asia Day a

success.

The lessons learned in Life Education visits to schools endure for many many

years and contribute to the health and well being of our students. It is a visit

which allows interactive teaching of topics in a modern technology environment

which is outside the classroom setting. It is loved by students each year. This

year ‘Healthy Harold’ and his lessons will be at Morgan Street beginning on

Wednesday and we encourage our parents to have an active conversation with

students after they visit his home.

P&C have advised this morning of the following donations to school initiatives.

TIME TO ORDER YOUR 2015 MORGIE MAG Once again the Year 5/6 Technology Group have been working hard to

produce a quality school magazine that has captured all the great things

that have happened at our school throughout the year. The magazine is

produced in colour and will cost $8.00

Order form and money to class teacher before Wednesday 2nd December.

Book Week had finally arrived. It was Tuesday the 18th of August and all the

Morgies came dressed as their favorite book characters. The students strolled

around the oval hoping everyone would notice their costumes. There was such

a variety to be seen.

The Book Week Assembly was amazing with so many creative items. The

Senior Choir performed ‘Bigger Isn’t Better’, 2G/K recited the poem ‘Outback

Billy Goats Gruff’ and the Library Monitors also read a book called ‘Time For

Bed’. There were reading awards presented as well.

After the fun-filled assembly there was Buddy Reading, when everyone read

their favorite book to their partner. It was great to see the older students

reading to the younger ones.

Hop hop hop… Morgie students wearing their lovely Easter hats

filled the playground on Friday the 2nd of April. It was the day of

Morgan Street’s K-6 Easter Hat Parade. Students with bunny tails

and wonderfully decorated hats paraded around the school oval

to some Aussie Easter songs. The hall was decorated with many

eye-catching Easter artworks for the colouring-in competition.

Kindergarten performed an Easter song titled ‘Little Barry Bilby’

and the school all joined in. The Easter raffle was drawn and the

guessing competition winners were revealed. Each

winner went home with a basket full of chocolate eggs

and some lucky classes even had a visit from the Easter

Bunny who dropped of some special treats. Yum! Hope

everyone had an amazing Easter with their families.

Dance-A-Thon/Education

Week

In Education Week on Thursday 30th of July, our

Morgies had an interesting day. The day began

with open classrooms. The students’ parents

visited their child’s class and joined in with creative

activities and helped them do their work. The

parents were invited to bring a picnic with them

and have recess with their children. After recess

our magnificent Dance-a-thon took place in the K-

2 playground. Every class had enthusiastic dancers

and the older students really enjoyed dancing with

the younger students and helping them with their

steps. We saw some funky moves as everyone

participated in the ten dances.

Education Week

& Dance-a-Thon

K-2 Playground Trial

This week we are trialling a new playground routine. Children will be able to play on the oval when the

teacher comes on duty at 8.40am. Before 8.40am students are still required to sit quietly in the main

COLA area. If children arrive after 8.40 am they are to place their bag in their class area, grab their hat

and head to the oval. For safety reasons it is important that younger siblings DO NOT follow them to

the oval. All children will need to go to the oval as there will be no teacher in the main COLA area.

We hope the children will enjoy their playtime and that we can continue this routine.

“Proud Morgies learning together” Respecting others and Property

What would our school be like if there was

nothing to play with in the playground? Much of

the equipment supplied for students to use in the

playground has been purchased by our SRC. Our

lovely new soccer goals for the 3 - 6 students is

the latest purchase. It is up to all students to look

after the equipment by playing with it sensibly,

sharing it with others and packing it up carefully

when finished.

Great to see some

of our younger

the most of the

toys they have to

play with at lunch

great castle.

Keep up the great work Morgies!

Indian Pacific Christmas Train Celebrations

Once again Morgan Street

students have been invited to

perform at the Broken Hill

Railway Station when the Indian

Pacific rolls into town on

Thursday 10th December at

approx. 7.20am.

Adam Thompson, lead singer from

Chocolate Starfish, will once again be the guest artist, but it

will be extra special this year because a Combined

Children’s Choir will perform with him. Four talented

Morgie singers will be part of this choir. Hailey Cox, Trinity

Connor, Elise Turtur and Ella Thompson were all chosen by

Adam to be in this special choir. They will travel to Bathurst

on Tuesday 8th December for a rehearsal and performance

and then return on the train and perform with Adam at our

local concert. We hope to see as many Morgan Street

students and their families as possible at the station, showing

their support.

Adam will be visiting our school this Wednesday to run a

music workshop with our Year 4 students - how lucky are

they? Year 4 will learn a couple of popular Christmas songs

that they will share with the rest of the school, so we are all

ready to perform at the Railway Station on Thursday 10th

December.

All our students have been practising “Bring on Christmas

Day” the song that they helped create last year, which they

will perform with Adam at this concert. What a rockin’ way

to start the day!
