Dear SisterI received your Letter and was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well we are Still on the eastern Shore of virginia the most god for Saken part of the Country i ever Saw i have had very good health until now and i have had a very bad Cold But it is got Better the peopple is very poor Down here and in the inteior part of the State they are in a Starving Condition you Said alfred Sent his love to me you Can tell him for me that his Love was not accepted By me tell him that I will never write to him until he writes to me if that is never

my remarks are few and Brief as the preacher Says [inserted text] s [end inserted text] i wish you would Continue to Send me a paper if you think the cost will not over run the proffit and Send me a few Stamps and make alfred pay for them i can get paper and every thing Else i want But Stamps and the Stores Does not keep them our Rigement has Been accepted for three years there is a great many to Be mustered out on pay Day Lewis Buckley for one the many you Spoke of in your Last Letter he is Consumpted we had a hard Battle the other Day in which the Second Delaware Rigement was ingaged a gainst Cap Snowns Battery B pernell Legion that fight Lasted 20 minutes and we quit with Cold hands

it was a fun fight we was Snow Balling our rigement run then i gess i have told you all the news and i think it is time to Close my Letter answer as Soon as you get this Letter and tell me all the news tell me if alfred Still goes with mary Carter and if you think there if they will make a mach
