Don John is a villain in Shakespeare's Romantic Comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

He is a Antagonist set out to ruin the love between Claudio and Hero.

Plot SynopsisClaudio and Hero fall in love and plan to get married, but Don John gives Hero false evidence. The wedding is ruined and Hero faints. Her family soon suspect something is wrong and decide to pretend that Hero died from shock. Don Johns plan is soon revealed and Claudio mourns Hero’s death.

ABOUT THE PLAYMuch Ado About Nothing is a comedy by William Shakespeare about two people who love each other. Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero.Benedick and Beatrice are in a war, they proclaim their tempt for love, marriage and each other. Claudio and Hero are young people who are speechless by their love for each other. Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into confessing their love for each other, and Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero at the altar. In the end, Don John runs away and everyone else joins in a dance celebrating the marriages of the two couples.

Conflict – Man vs Man• Claudio likes Hero; Beatrice and Benedick hate

each other.• Claudio announces that he noticed Hero before the

war, but he was busy with war stuff. Now he can get busy with love stuff. he falls in love with Hero quickly. Beatrice and Benedick,hate each other. Beatrice alludes to some past interactions she may have had with Benedick that have soured her both on him and on love. Essentially, they hate each other fiercely.

Conflict – Man vs Society• Don John is a hated villian and society does

not like the way he acts towards others.• They do not like the way he trys to get Caudio

and Hero no to be together.

RelationshipsDon John doesn’t have many friends or relationships with people as he isn't liked by many people due to his hatred towards others and his plans to ruin the relationships between others. His motivation; that once Claudio and Hero are over, he will get Hero to himself.

End of The PlayBy the end of the play, Don John is left in trouble and at the end of Act: V, Scene: IV, He attempts to escape punishment, leaving Borachio and Conrade, but is captured and awaiting punishment. This ends the play.
