10:30 am Service Next Week
Have you ever avoided a phone call because you checked call waiting and you
knew that the person calling had a plan for you that you wanted to avoid? They
were going to ask you to do something that you really, really didn’t want to do,
even though you knew it was the right thing. So instead of answering and con-
fronting the question with honesty, you simply let it go to voice mail and
avoided responsibility for another day. If you, so you’ll understand Jonah more
than most. Next week, we are beginning a fascinating study into the life of Jo-
nah – and man who knew God’s will but said, “No.”
Consider the words of Psalm 6 as you prepare for worship:
I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.
If you’ve come this morning looking for hope in what feels like a hopeless
situation, you’ve come to the right place. Prepare your heart and mind
to receive all that God has for you.

WAITING 4 WATER ARTWORK “Living the Life”
1 Peter 1:13-25 This scripture passage was part of Peter’s letter to the early churches. The map shows the location of some of the churches he was writing
to and visiting in person as part of his leadership ministry.
The heart represents the instruction to “love one another deeply from the heart.”
While the hand holding the heart illustrates believers giving their heart to Jesus
and choosing to fulfill his purposes through their lives.
The painting of Monte Vista represents the churches of today. The cross at the
top of the sanctuary building reminds us that we were redeemed with the pre-
cious blood of Christ and our new life of faith and hope begins and ends with
Jesus.
The scroll lists some of the ways believers at Monte Vista demonstrate their
love and commitment through various areas of outreach to others. We also en-
deavor to have an attitude of prayerfulness, compassion and humbleness in all
that we say and do, for it is written, “Be holy, because I am holy.”
