W e boarded the flight to Jaipur. After
we landed, we proceeded in luxury
coaches to Vesta, the hotel booked for us. As it
was the first time the juniors and new students
looked keen at everything around them. They
were ready to experience like staying away from
their families and it was the seniors’ responsibility
to take care of them. In this way, juniors became
knowledgeable and we learnt how to be caring
and sharing! After we freshened up, had tea and
snacks and proceeded to the BIRLA MANDIR.

T o enjoy the historic monuments of Jaipur,
we started by visiting the JANTAR
MANTAR where we saw how accurate the
instruments are and how does one use it. Next, we
proceeded to the CITY PALACE and learnt about
the history of the city of Jaipur. We saw the
preserved attire of the kings and queens who had
lived in Jaipur. Followed by a panoramic view of
the HAWA MAHAL, we went to the AMBER
FORT where we saw the inside of the whole fort
and the learnt about the importance of it. Outside
the fort, we shopped a little and in the evening
witnessed sound and light show!

T oday was a pleasant day. In the morning,
we visited the Jaipur Zoo and the Bird
Sanctuary. I personally appreciated this activity
because I got to know about the fauna in the
region. We even shopped for a while in the
Gandhi Market. We returned to the hotel for
lunch. In the evening it was Party Time; from
7:30pm to 9:30pm we had a DJ Party. This was
thrilling. All were excited and the best part was
that we mingled with the juniors whom we did not
know much about.
DAY 3

T oday was pretty hectic as we travelled for a
lot of time. We went to factory where we
experienced how to block print on fabric! After
learning all of us tried doing it on a piece of
fabric. I enjoyed as it was something totally new I
learnt. Next we had to say good bye to Jaipur and
board for the airport! All of us carried lovely
memories with us….Thank you to all the teachers
and tour guides who helped us to learn and enjoy
from this trip! We hardly missed our parents!

On a Tour of the Mountains
O n Sep 28, 2015 I woke up to a bright Monday morning to embark on our school trip to
Nainital. It was indeed a memorable trip for me just like all my class mates. Our trip started
with a flight to New Delhi, our national capital. We were accommodated in comfortable
hotels during our entire trip and the facilities available were appreciable.
We started off with our visit to the famous India Gate, followed by a visit to
Raj Ghat, the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. I felt moved at the memorial. At
the India Gate, I remembered all our fallen heroes and felt proud of them.
Later that night, we boarded the train for Nainital, our next destination.
Nainital is an amazing place on earth with its beautiful snowcapped
mountains and lakes. We had a lovely memorable boat ride during the day
and all our classmates enjoyed it. This was followed by a trip to the caves.
There were about five caves. I ventured into two of them and without a
doubt; this was a different kind of experience. We returned to the hotel and
had fun playing games and finally capping it with a DJ playing our favorite
songs in the night. That was wonderful, something to remember for a long
time to come

Next on our menu was the Jim Corbett National Park. We checked out from the hotel at Nainital, travelled by
cars and checked in to a new hotel for this visit. First we went on a safari where we got to see the animals in their
natural surroundings unlike in a zoo. We saw herds of deer, monkeys, gigantic Salamander and a cute baby
elephant! It was certainly a great safari with all these wonderful sights. Back in the hotel some of us had fun
getting into the swimming pool prior hitting the bed. Next day we were taken to the Jim Corbett Museum and this
was unique. I had heard about this a lot and also wondered if I will ever see this one. Here I was along with my
classmates enjoying this visit! We got to learn a lot about tigers. Further, we also gained knowledge about all our
existing National Parks located in various parts of the country and how they were named. We returned to the hotel
and again were enthralled by Karaoke singers. Our classmates and I enjoyed singing away the wonderful week
with our favorite songs. The trip was truly memorable. I sincerely thank all teachers and organizers for giving this
unique experience.

International Day of Non-violence
W orking for year 4 assembly was fun. The topic being celebrating
“International Day of Non-violence”. A big day for us indeed! We had to go on
stage and present in front of the whole primary school. Excited but nervous at the same
time, Year 4 had to rise to the challenge, our first assembly of the year, and the responsibility was really big.
After all the hard work, the day had dawned to put us
through this huge challenge. Year 4 performed a play, a
song in Hindi, a song in English, and a dance sequence

PYP The one that interested us the most was the play. Hope we were clear in delivering our
message, and that would mean our hard work had paid off. It may be just a play for some, but it
involved a lot of planning and organizing. Our learning journey has been great and such assemblies should
be conducted more often as it involves long term learning experiences and healthy team spirit.

Guest Speaker - Grade 1
F or our ongoing UOI ‘Products’, Mrs. Rachana Ojha did the honors as a guest speaker.
She gave a PPT presentation on ‘Mines and Fossils’. It was a very interactive session where the
children learnt how natural products such as coal, iron, fossils etc go through a process of change and are
eventually transformed into manmade products like steel, rods etc. The children enjoyed a lot, specially
the video on ‘iron-ore mining’. We thank Mrs. Ojha for this wonderful opportunity.

RBKIA Holds Fire Drill
T he school held its annual fire drill on the 6th of October 2015. Shortly after
11 a.m. The alarm was sounded and everyone dropped what they were doing and made
their down the stairs and out to the rallying point on the outside playground. This time there were
personnel stationed on each floor to point out the correct exit route for each level and to ensure that
everyone had evacuated.
After rolls were taken there was a brief assembly at the indoor playground where the Fire Marshall
explained the school’s evacuation procedure as well as assuring members of the measures that are in
place to ensure the safety of all on campus. He and his team held a mock fire fighting exercise using a fire
hose as well as fire extinguishers.
The exercise is intended to test the preparedness of the school community to deal with any untoward
emergencies including fire incidents. This important event is held periodically to inform members of the
school community of any updates with regard to response to emergencies as well as evacuation
procedures to be followed. Preparations for this year’s drill saw the school put up new highly visible signs
in strategic places such as corridors, by the lifts and next to emergency exits.
