In Chicago, HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of mortality for Puerto Rican men (ages 45-54) and women (ages 35-44). Open Your Eyes! Latinos account for 15% of the 16,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Chicago. Among Latinos, 50% are of Mexican origin and 35% are of Puerto Rican origin. Open Your Eyes! The rate of AIDS among Latinas is three times greater than the rate among White women in Chicago. As part of the Closing activities of the Binational Health Week, these events will be followed by a Health Fair at Harrison Park Field Station, hosted by the Binational Health Week local committee.
