Excursion

At 6:30am on Monday 5 November, an extremely excited group of Year 5 and 6 students boarded a bus bound for our nation’s capital. They were accompanied by their teachers, Mr Matthew Denmead and Mrs Neroli Jackson as well as Mrs Belinda Boland and Mr Jason Wynstra.

The three days of the excursion were jam-packed with activities that both reviewed and extended the students’ understanding of our democratic system of government and exposed them to many other creative marvels that are found in Canberra.

It was a fantastic excursion and everywhere we went, the students were well-behaved and respectful. Some of the less formal (fun) activities included Laser Tag, Tenpin Bowling, a visit to Questacon and the Canberra Bird Aviary where most students were delighted to have the chance to hand-feed many of the brightly coloured parrots there.

All students (and teachers) agreed that the excursion had been an amazing experience.

Sport

On Thursday 7 November, 12 students from Years 5-8 played in the under 14’s Girls League Tag Gala Day in Dubbo. All girls gave 100% and played their heart out throughout the competition, improving with every game.

There was amazing sportsmanship and encouragement constantly shown by the girls as they represented PCS with pride.

A huge thanks goes to Mr Denmead for coaching the team during lunchtimes for the last few weeks and Mr Westcott for driving the bus and cheering for us and for shouting all the exhausted players an ice cream from Maccas on the way home.

Well done, girls. PCS is very proud of you.

Students in the Community

Lexi’s Success at Zone lands her in the National Finals!PCS student Lexi Herden will be travelling to Sydney on Saturday 23 November along with four other talented dancers from Parkes to compete in the Physical Culture Junior National Finals.

Lexi competed in the Junior Zone Championships and qualified in the top five, under 10s age division which has now moved her into the upcoming Junior National Finals.

We wish Lexi all the best as she prepares to compete at Nationals.

Luke’s Passion - His 1961 Ute!PCS student Luke Magill is one of the youngest members of the Parkes based Central West Car Club and since he first spotted his 1961 EK Holden Ute tucked away in a shed in 2015 he hasn’t looked back!

It took Luke 3 years on and off to turn this beauty into a roadworthy ute again. What was initially thought of as being an easy project to get running, turned into a massive learning experience for Luke.

Luke has since displayed his pride and joy at the annual Show and Shine for the last two years and attends regularly at the monthly Friday night street meets in Parkes.

We love seeing PCS students participating their passions within the community!

Primary News

A Message from Mrs Harris (Primary)Last week was the beginning of our two weeks of intensive swimming lessons for the Primary students.

All students splished and splashed with delight as they participated in their respective activities in the pool.

Swimming is such a valuable skill to have. It’s especially great for our little ones as they step out of their comfort zone and learn something new.

Great job Primary students for your stamina and excitement in the pool.

Let’s keep it up for our final week of intensive swimming!

High School News

Strength & Shine at PCSOver the last three weeks Year 9 and 10 have been spending time with Miss Oates and Mr Quince participating in the Hillsong Strength and Shine program.

As a school we recognise that students everywhere really struggle with their identity and we wanted to find something to encourage them during Year 9 and 10. This is something that we will do each year for our students to strengthen them and help them shine!!

Both groups got to celebrate their growth by having lunch together in their last session.
