bank this money, so it becomes an
expense to the school. Thanks for your
attention to this.
This month is recognised as SSO
month. We reflect on the hard work our
integration and office staff contribute to
the day to day operations of Newhaven
Primary School. It is often not
recognised, the work done behind the
scenes, providing a quality education for
the students. Please don’t forget to
congratulate our team: Sarah,
Catherine, Katrina, Michelle and David.
Head Lice has again been detected in
the school. Please help us to keep on
top of this problem by checking your
children’s hair on a regular/routine basis.

Parents with a Child in Year 4, 5 & 6
In 2001 the government introduced the “First
Child Tax Offset”. This was one of the first types
of baby bonuses introduced, but unlike todays
Baby Bonus Schemes it was not given much
media exposure and was confusing. As a result
many parents have missed out on claiming this
entitlement.
The offset was introduced to compensate
parents for reduced income that followed the
arrival of a child born between 1 July 2001 and 30
June 2004. There is information on the ATO
website, but like many entitlements it is difficult
to understand.
The Tax office has now put a deadline on making
a claim (this deadline has not been widely
promoted), so we are attempting to let as many
parents know about this before time runs out.
We would appreciate if you could help us spread
the word including the flyer in your school’s
newsletter and/or parent email list. Parents who
contact us will be given further information on
what their entitlements may be and how they
can claim it. This information will be provided by
us FREE of charge.
We understand that financially it is hard for
parents with the continuous costs of raising
children (uniform expense, school expense,
outside sport activity costs, medical expenses
etc.) and if parents are entitled to this money we
believe they should receive it.
5/6 Melbourne Camp By Olivia
State Library of Victoria I really enjoyed it. It was cool to see Ned Kelly’s armour.
The building was beautiful and all the paintings were
really good. I liked all of the newspapers.
Museum Victoria
I loved the dinosaurs! t was so amazing.
Bugs Alive was cool. My favourite part
was the sea life, I loved it. I also liked the human body display,
but not the cut-open parts.
Universal Pizza I LOVED IT. It was some of the best pizza I have ever had in my life.
We got coke yum yum and we had ice-cream. It was funny to sit
next to grade sixes “he he!”
Queen Victoria Market
It was very busy and I liked it a lot. I got 2 pieces of jewellery. There
were a lot of shops.
Melbourne Discovery Centre
I liked it, the beds were very nice.
The food was good and I liked my room, but it got really messy. We
passed the room inspection and it was a heap of fun!
Block Arcade It was a really beautiful building and it was very big.
The mosaic tiles were amazing. It was cool to know it has been around
for so long and that some people come here every day!!!! .
MCG The MCG was really cool. I loved the sports museum
and the VIP rooms were really cool. We saw the change rooms
and the ice bath rooms and drug test rooms.
Royal Botanic Gardens The garden was beautiful. I loved all the plants, they were really cool.
The Aboriginal resource trail was really cool. I loved the ochre
painting.
Shrine of Remembrance The Shrine was really beautiful, I loved the balcony.
You could see so many things. There was lists of names of people.

coz we all fell over and I fell on my bum!!!!. It was really crammed,
but that didn’t bother me, I loved it.
Hosier Lane It was so cool I loved all the different art work.
It was also a bit rude, but I didn’t look at that stuff.
The ground was hurting my feet, but apart from that is was really
good .
Laser Tag & Bowling
This was my favourite part I loved it so much.
It was a really good set up in laser tag and the guns were really good.
I loved bowling, even though I came last I still had fun.
Science Works
I loved the fun science. I went on the nail bed and played curve ball.
