The Minnedosa Horticultural Society represented by Albert and Edith Parsons received a grant from the Foundation to assist in the purchase of a pair of bronze cranes to enhance the Ishii Garden area. It is worth a visit to this lovely serene garden space next to the Minnedosa Regional Library.

Youth soccer runs each year from April to June. The association maintains fields for teams to play on — two at Tanner’s Crossing School, one at Minnedosa Collegiate, one at Minnedosa Beach and a new one at the MREC site.

chance to work with both wood and metal components, with the plane held together with glue, wood dowels, and screws.

The students worked after school over several months, from unboxing the pieces to priming and painting the plane in its distinctive yellow hue. As a finishing touch, decals (created by Accent Striping in Brandon) were added which replicate the actual flying Harvard operated by the CATPM. Finally, on June 19, the

students turned over the finished plane to Stephen Hayter, executive director of the museum, in front of a number of volunteers and museum board members.

Hayter commented that the pedal plane “would be a key part of the interactive displays at the museum, and likely the most memorable part of the museum for the youngest visitors”. Sized for pilots aged 2-5, it will be stationed in the main hangar of the museum for children to pedal around while older visitors look at the static displays of aircraft. It joins a Tiger Moth pedal plane previously donated to the museum.

to the previous years’ taxes. A major reduction in your taxable income, a possible avoidance of a capital gains tax, and a receipt of a tax credit may be obtained if contributions such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and shares are gifted directly to the foundation. Tax credits are issued for the value of the securities on the day they are sold. If your securities have appreciated in value, your tax savings may be more than the original cost of the securities. Life insurance is a popular and easy way to leave your community a

The Minnedosa & District Foundation Inc. suggests simple, flexible and effective choices for you to leave your legacy: A bequest in your Will, Life Insurance, Publicly Traded Securities, RRSP or RRIF or a cash donation can have an enormous impact. Making a bequest, can be as simple as inserting a few sentences into your Will. You are also free to alter your bequest at anytime. No one likes to pay taxes. Leaving a bequest can eliminate up to 100 per cent of tax on your estate. Any remaining tax credit can be applied

You don’t need deep pockets to make an impact legacy. You can transfer ownership of an existing policy, donate a new policy or donate the proceeds of the life insurance to us. Why Donate to the Minnedosa & District Foundation?

For the future of our community!

The Minnedosa & District Foundation Inc. board loves our community and wants to see it thrive for years to come. To ensure that it does, the Foundation needs your help. Donors are the essence of the Foundation, and it needs your donations to help deserving community and area projects

and people.

If you too, are passionate about our community, donate to the Minnedosa & District Foundation Inc. today.

Did You Know... In 1974, Adam Crossley left $15,604.26 of his estate to serve the people of Minnedosa and district. The Crossley estate and a further $100.00 donation in memory of Maxine Stewart, established the Foundation as a local charity.

The Minnedosa Town Council appointed James Chipperfield, Ed Taylor, and Hazel Vellam to the first serving board of the Foundation.

Shortly after the Foundation’s inception in 1975, it created the first “In Memory” donation envelope, a version of which is still available today to make donations in loved one’s names. Local groups and people started taking interest in the money the Foundation was collecting, and that is how the Foundation began giving, what are now, annual grants.

In the next 30 years, as donations came in slowly, the Foundation tried to inform the people of Minnedosa & District of its role, while continuing to give annual grants to local projects and organizations to better the community.

In 2008, the Foundation sponsored the Minnedosa Homecoming Opening Ceremonies, and began a luncheon to recognize grant recipients each year. It also created annual/semi-annual newsletters, which are still published to date.

Since initial donations in memory of Maxine Stewart and Adam Crossley, the Foundation has relied on the citizens of Minnedosa and area to grow its funds. Historically citizens have made memorial donations, estate donations, and straight tax deductible donations to increase the Foundation’s assets. Today, the Foundation has a wide variety of donation options you can explore.
