HARVEST FEST ~ OCTOBER 25 ~ 11 AM-1 PM

Our annual party for families is quickly approaching. We are getting ready for a great party with tons of games, lots of candy, and awesome prizes! We want to in-vite all families and their kids (up thru 6th grade) to join us for a fun-filled day that is sure to be a great family memory. As a church, we use Harvest Fest as a chance to reach out to the community as a blessing to young families and their kids. We’re looking forward to Harvest Fest 2014 being one of the best parties yet, and that can

only happen with everybody doing their part! Please talk to Brad or Kristy Speirs for more information.

SUNDAY NIGHTS - STARTS TONIGHT Last fall we were all challenged by the ‘Not a Fan’ series, and this fall Kyle Idleman re-turns to challenge us to experience AHA! Over the course of six weeks we will be exploring the parable of the prodigal son, known by many as the greatest story ever told! All adults are invited to join us here at the church starting at 6:00 p.m.

We want to extend our most heartfelt sympathy to Cindy & Phil Klaus and RJ & Katie at the passing of Cindy’s dad, John Willing, on September 18. Pray for the family as they go thru this time of mourning the loss of their loved one and that they will feel God’s loving arms of comfort surrounding them.

Sermon Series ~ Broken Throughout the first part of October we will be con-tinuing our series on Brokenness. Each week we’ll be looking at a different Bible text and we’ll hope-fully be challenged to be more broken, so that God can make us more beautiful. September 28th - Broken or Perfect October 5th - Humble or Prideful October 12th - Empty or Full October 19th - Available or Busy

Shine Wednesdays - for all kids 4 yrs old - 5th grade! It’s time to let your light shine and join us

each week as we learn about our one True God and the Hope that He has for all of us! We’re also on the lookout for a few extra volunteers to help us as we’ve exploded numerically this Fall. If you’ve got a love for kids and Jesus, we’ve got a place for you to serve :) Shine Sunday Nights - starting tonight! @ 6 p.m. - for all 6th - 12th grade students. Garold & Jamie Peasley will be leading the 6th - 8th grade students for a fun filled time of learning and laughter. Garold & Jamie are ex-perienced Jr. High workers that love their stu-dents greatly! New to the high school class this year is Scott Hendrian. Scott will be leading the high school group along with Jason Speirs as they challenge the Sr. High to live out their faith and to face their fears as well. These classes are great chances to grow closer to Christ and to develop great friendships … don’t miss out on either!

BIBLE BOWL NEWS

Our first monthly meet is November 1st. We have a great group (and a large group) of Bible Bowlers this year that are busy studying the Gospel of John. Some of them were able to attend a retreat this weekend, and they are looking forward to their first competition of the year next month. Please pray for the group to learn God’s word well and to apply it to their lives!

BEGINNER BIBLE BOWL WOW! What an incredible first week of practice for our youngsters. We have 13 kids learning most of the Book of John and having fun doing it! We’re looking forward to our weekly practices and great memories that we’ll b making throughout the year. If you’ve got a youngster in 2nd - 5th grade that would like to give learning God’s word a shot, talk to Brad, Sharron, Kristy, Katie, or Clem! It’s not too late to join us for this month’s competition!

Our last Fall party is October 10th! We’ve had a great fall already with three parties in the books and our last party will hopefully be our biggest and best. We’re going to be going all out for Homecoming with FREE PIZZA in addition to all of our regular good-ies. If you’re in 7th - 12th grade and you’re not here on Friday nights in the Fall … you’re missin' out. See you on the 10th!

LIVING TRUST SEMINAR NOVEMBER 4TH

Join us at 7 p.m. this night as we discuss our leg-acy, the importance of passing on our values, and the critical steps to take care of our families after we pass on. More information will be coming, along with a sign-up around the middle of the month.

LEGACY JOURNEY Starts tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Hospital. Dave Ramsey’s newest class is a seven week ex-perience designed to help us ‘finish well’ in finances and our faith. I you are interested, please talk to Brad today or show up at the hospital by 6:45 to-morrow night.

FANTASY FOOTBALL The season is off to a quick start, and after 3 weeks the teams that are out in front are Randy Diebel and Zach Hartwick in the Friends league. And in the two “in-house” leagues, the Peruski brothers are dominating the ‘youth’ half, and there are 8 teams all tied at 2-1 in the ‘old’ half!

YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY SEARCH

As a group we are getting closer to selecting a can-didate to be brought in for the church to choose as our next youth & family minister. We ask that you continue to pray for wisdom and direction! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brad or any of the elders.

FLAG FOOTBALL It’s FOOTBALL time!!! Join us up behind the high school for a great time of fel-lowship and exercise. We’ll be starting each week about 12:30 p.m. and probably play till 2:30-3:00ish each week. The plan now is to play today (September 28th) and also on October 5th, 19th, and 26th. We won’t be playing on the 12th be-cause of the church potluck.

You Are Invited to an “AFTERNOON OF MUSIC”

October 15 ~ 2:00 p.m. The Lunch Bunch is hosting an “Afternoon of Music” with Ada Kilbourn at the piano. Men and women both are invited. The Lunch Bunch ladies are bring-ing desserts and afterward we’ll enjoy a fellowship time with dessert and coffee. So jot this date on your calendar and come join us.

FOUNDATIONS CLASS Our Foundations Bible School Class meets on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Join us as we are chal-lenged by Ken Ham to build our faith on the “Rock” of God’s word instead of the “sand’ of man’s opinion! Brad will be leading this class that will be meeting in the audito-rium.

POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES This ministry is dedicated to direct pregnant women to choose life for their unborn baby. This ministry work is serious. April and the staff of Posi-tive Alternatives ask that we pray for

Biblically sound Christian women who have the gifts of mercy and compassion to apply as volunteers. They also ask that if you know someone who has a passion for this type of ministry, that you would tell them about the need at Positive Alternatives. This ministry also asks for prayer partners to pray three things: First, the Lord be glorified in all they do. Secondly, abortion minded, abortion vulnerable, post-abortive, and women facing crisis pregnancy would seek help from this ministry. Thirdly, for the Lord’s provision in all areas of ministry; among clients and volunteer, board members and staff and for their sup-porters. Positive Alternatives has a volunteer training ses-sion October 1st in Bad Axe. Register by email at [email protected] C.R.A.M. (Christ Reaching Asia Ministry) CRAM is in the process of another building project in North Korea, in the rural area of Bi Pa Village near the East Japan Sea. The village leaders knowing CRAM had built a Kindergarten and Daycare Center in another area, pleaded with CY to build a new facility in their village. CRAM could not say “no” after seeing the condition of the building that they now use. The new Kindergarten/Daycare Center is under construc-tion and the goal is to complete it before the winter months. HIS HOUSE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP College students are on the college campus. His House Christian Fellowship wants to minister to stu-dents helping them build and maintain their faith in God. You can send this info to His House Christian Fellow-ship, 1171 Trowbridge Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. WOODBURN CHRISTIAN CHILDRENS HOME Saturday, October 18th, is WCCH benefit auction.
