Our School Planner does state thatno trainers or hooded tops shouldbe worn as part of our schooluniform so we would appreciate it ifyou could reinforce this messagewith your daughters. Ideally, therewould be no students in trainers.However, we are aware that newYear 7 families may have alreadypurchased these.

Our aim is to work with you toensure that only low cut plain blackshoes are worn as part of our schooluniform.

Summer Building WorksWe have almost completed theupgrading of the school’s newheating project and installation of alift in order to ensure that theschool is accessible to everyone.

School RestaurantNew arrangements for servingschool lunches in two sittings is nowin place and we have decorated theschool restaurant accordingly. Withtwo lunch slots on the timetable(labelled as 4A and 4B) we are ableto ensure that students do not haveto queue for long and lunchtimefeels calmer already.

School UniformIt has been pleasing to see so manyof our students looking smart intheir uniform, including their blackshoes. Indeed, some of ourneighbours have commented onhow proud and professional theylook. As a school Hornsey has highexpectations of all of its students.This means that we take the wayour students wear Hornsey’s schooluniform and the shoes they wearvery seriously. All students arerequired to be in full uniform beforeentering the school and to bewearing appropriate shoes.

With this in mind we thought wewould clarify the issue of shoes asfollows:

We have had a wonderful summer atHornsey with outstanding examinationresults. Many of you have contacted meto congratulate the school on achievingsuch excellent results which I, and allstaff, have really appreciated.

Examination ResultsGCSE results: A*-C 81%; A*-C withcombined English and Maths 65%(national average 60%).

A2 results in our Sixth Form: 100% passrate with 84% A*-C.

Portrait Photography

There will be a photographer inschool taking photographs forstudent ID cards which will also beavailable to purchase in variouspacks. As the majority of studentswere taken in June the photos willbe taken of the new Year 7’s andPost 16 students along with some ofthe Year 9 students who were nottaken last term and any other newstarters.

A letter will be sent home to allstudents involved with furtherdetails including how to purchasephoto packs online.

If your daughter is having her phototaken please make sure that shearrives at school in full schooluniform and is neat andpresentable.

3. Ballot papers, including the candidate's statements, will be distributed on Friday, 27th September2013

4. Parents may use pupil post, GPO mail or return ballot papers personally to the school to be in theballot box by no later than Friday, 11th October 2013

5. The votes will be counted and the results will be posted on the school notice board on 15th

October 2013 and in the next available newsletter.
