There was a special reason, why the Frauentreffen wanted to join the rest of our pensioners (yes, most of our ladies are now in that age group) at the pensioners’ luncheon at the end of June. We actually wanted to come and admire the new jungle gym erected for our kids, to which the Frauentreffen had also contributed. We were very happy to see that it is a really sturdy and quite elaborate one, which will keep the little ones busy and give them many hours of play and pleasure – and some blessed peace to the mums!
As usual, the fare served by Udo was very tasty indeed and we all enjoyed the couple of hours spent with our compatriots over a leisurely meal and some lively chats.
The next meeting will be a 1st August breakfast at the Club on 30 July 2014 – don’t miss it! Should you need more info, please contact Theresa Dennler on 021 981 7958 or 082 775 5849.

once again we had to say goodbye to one of our Frauentreffen members. sadly, our dear elisabeth passed away after a short illness on 22 June 2014, only a few months before her 90th birthday. after working in bern and Zurich and marrying rather late in life, she and her husband Josef, who had three children from a previous marriage, decided to join his daughter and her family in cape town in 2001 – a very brave thing to do considering that they were in their late 70’s and neither of them spoke english. once they became members of the swiss club, she thoroughly enjoyed taking part in all the functions and activities and especially getting together with the ladies of the Frauentreffen. even after they moved to Nazareth House in 2006, where her husband soon succumbed to his illness, she took every opportunity to join us at the club and her presence will be sorely missed.

As you know, the Frauentreffen holds a Christmas Sale every year and, in order to have goods to sell, some of our members love to knit a variety of garments, blankets and toys. However, wool is expensive these days and we therefore appeal to all of you to check your cup-boards and attics and let us have whatever amount, type, colour of

Since I had no input from you for a better ‘Opening-Line’ to my report, as I suggested in our last edition,............
I will again start with the weather !!??Whilst Winter (and it seems to be an exceptionally cold-one this year) is still very much upon us, the good news is that we have passed ‘the half-way mark’ and our days are getting longer again !!
And let it be said, ... nothing beats a crisp Winter’s Day with blue skies and clear vistas .... (in my opinion!)But let’s get to the ‘nitty-gritty’ of what’s has happened or is happening at your Club !By the time you read these lines, we will have actively embarked on our “hope” aids-awareness – Campaign, through our regular news-Flashes,
the information displayed at the Club and at our new web-site. please come along and support this worthy cause; i am sure many of you know about my feelings towards the ‘Disad-vantaged’ in our society ! let’s take on a ‘social responsibily’ as a Club, together !By now, we all know, who became the ‘Soccer World-Champions’ of 2014 !! Whilst the Swiss Team performed ad-mirably well, they were denied against Argentinia in the last couple of minutes to enter the last 16 !! Nevertheless, a great vibe was felt at the club, whenever the Swiss Team walked onto the field and gave their all !! - You made Switzerland proud !!
With Udo, our new Caterer, surely finding his feed, our recent Club-Events were well patronized and received very positive response; our ‘Pensioners Luncheons’ have gained in popularity and we are looking forward to an ever-increasing participation for this monthly event; likewise the recent ‘Cheese-Fondue’ – Evening was very well received and so pleasantly underlined by our ,this time in num-bers slightly reduced, HUUSMUSIK !! Thank You for your entertainment !!Our Forthcoming Events are well publisized in this Newletter, the next one being our National-Day Celebration,the details of which you will find in our special inlay.

Neue Immigrations-Richtlinien in Kraft
Der Minister der Einwanderungsbehörde hat letzte Woche überraschend mitgeteilt, dass die neuen Immigrations-Richtlinien 2014 bereits ab dem 26. Mai in Kraft getreten sind. Dies bedeutet, dass die Änderungen der Richtlinien, welche 2007 und 2011 publiziert aber nie ratifiziert wurden, ebenfalls Gültigkeit haben. Viele der Änderungen passen sich internationalen Richtlinien an und sind willkommen. Es wird eine Weile dauern, bis man sich an die neue
Gesetzgebung gewöhnt hat und die ersten Probleme sind bereits aufgetreten. Einige Anpassungen sind sehr ambitiös so wie die Behörde im Moment funktioniert, sind wir nicht überzeugt, dass diese in der Praxis umsetzbar sind. Längerfristig hoffen wir aber, dass mit der VFS Stelle eine effizientere Handhabung der Anträge erfolgt. Wir möchten alle unsere Kunden bitten, welche normalerweise mit einem Touristenvisum einreisen und dieses um weitere Monate verlängern, diese Strategie zu überprüfen. Der Antrag muss 60 Tage vor Ablauf des bestehenden Visums gemacht werden.
Ein medizinischer und radiologischer Befund muss beigebracht werden und falls Sie schon einmal länger als 12 Monate in Südafrika waren, zusätzlich ein lokales polizeiliches Führungszeugnis. Mit den momentanen Bearbeitungszeiten der Behörde von über 3 Monaten, werden Sie bei einer Ausreise als “unerwünschte Person” deklariert, mit einer Busse und einer Einreisesperre von mindestens 12 Monaten bestraft! Dies gilt auch, wenn Sie nachweisen können, dass Ihr Antrag zeitgerecht eingereicht, aber noch nicht bearbeitet wurde. Wir empfehlen unseren “Langzeit-Touristen” oder “Schwalben” entweder ein 4-Jahres Visum für Pensionäre (es bestehen keine Alterseinschränkungen) oder sogar eine Daueraufenthaltsbewilligung (Sie müssen nicht die meiste Zeit in Südafrika weilen) in Betracht zu ziehen. Kontaktieren Sie uns, sollten Sie weitere Informationen benötigen. Gerne stehen wir Ihnen mit allen Immigrations- und internationalen Steuerangelegenheiten zur Verfügung.
