What’s happening at YGPS this week?

On Tuesday we set off to Yarra Valley FM for the YV radio show our Grade 6 students have been participating. Eden, Heath, Aidyn and Georgia were quite anxious as we drove to Woori Yallock. Their nerves were unwarranted, as they all did an amazing job. All four students were calm, confident and well spoken and took the time to ensure that they were organised and focussed. The

content that they had written about was well thought out and detailed. Well done to everyone for persisting and walking all the way without a second thought. Excellent for everyone’s health and well being. Many thanks to our fundraising committee who work tirelessly to raise funds for our school. The money will go towards new air conditioners in the Junior building ready for the hot summer ahead. Thank you to our school community for supporting us. Every small donation can make a real difference. I have had a few families ask about student absences and our processes in following these up. The Department of Education requires us to follow up on all student absences and the reason for their absence. This data is sent in electronically and these records are updated consistently. Thank you to all families who patiently fill out the forms/letters. We are required to do this and your continued support in this matter is very much appreciated. 2015 Grade 6 Graduation

Notices regarding the Grade 6 Graduation have been sent home to all

Grade 6 students. If you haven’t received one, please ask your child.

All orders and money are due back before Tuesday 1 December.

YGPS School Noticeboard Due to circumstances beyond our control, the School Noticeboard will not be accomplished this year.

Hoping for a 2016 lift off! However the Market Day Noticeboard is already up !!!

Thank you to all families who signed the release as well as Integrity Real Estate P/L for their

commitment to this project.

Hi my name is Tahlia. I’m glad that I got the role of school leader for term 4. It is going to be a

fun, busy but sad term- it is the last term for the grade sixes at Yarra Glen Primary School.

We have been starting to plan graduation. We are making a poster with reflections about our primary school

years. At the moment we are picking our song to sing at graduation.

We are going to Funfields to have the best time together before we all go off to high school.

The different high schools we are all going to are:

Oxley Christen College,

Mt Lilydale Mercy College,

Lilydale High School,

Lilydale Heights,

Mt Evelyn Christian College,

Healesville High School,

Billanook College and

Heatherwood

We are all going to miss each other when we leave. We have been through a lot

together- sad times and happy times.

I know when we all move on we will make new friends.

Two weeks ago our school leaders, Liam and Paris passed on their

roles to Tahlia and me. Two new badges were handed over to Tahl-

ia and me. The other grade sixes and I are looking forward to high

school and are going to miss our friends. We’re looking forward to

high school, making new friends and meeting new people.

This term as school leader I am going to enjoy practising my public

speaking so I don’t get nervous.

KIN EDUCATION Yarra Glen Early Learning Centre

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you to our extended hours child care and early learning (Kindergarten)

program for children 6 weeks to school aged- Yarra Glen Early Learning Centre.

Our Centre is situated on Forest Street (Behind Yarra Glen Primary School). Our centre offers homelike spaces for comfort

and security while providing engaging learning experiences. We have an exciting garden/outdoor play area allowing for

adventuring in a tactile and natural environment.

We balance nurture and education and value the 5 Kin’s for early life foundations;

1. Kinship- We value sharing and working together, partnering children, their families and the community, including the

elements of trust, honesty and respect as the basis of our connections and communications with each other.

2. Kinasetic– We encourage learning by doing. Learning which is self-directed, interest based and intentional is delivered in

our program which provides provocations to promote the senses (especially sight and touch) in an aesthetic, practical and

physically engaging learning environment.

3. Kindred- We create a culture that promotes respect for individuals and their abilities, internally we promote the value of

diversity, people and earth care and fairness.

4. Kinesiology- We value the principles of healthy living and wellbeing. Physical education and perceptual motor

development is a core in our program along with the promotion of nutrition and self-care.

5. Kindergarten- We support children to grow their skills for learning, developing essential foundations for school

preparedness. Incorporating literacy, numeracy, technology, resilience and self-ownership as our core program elements

to set children for future learning success.

Parents can now have their child close at hand to their home or work during the

working day. Please contact our leadership team on 9730 1442 for enquiries.

Our offerings can be explored by attending one of our open mornings or by

arranging a personal tour. Further details about our Centre can be found at
