Introduction

This Mission Booklet of the Outreach Committee of Newtown Presbyterian Church (NPC) briefly describes the many missions that NPC members support through their contributions of time and money. Please visit the websites to learn more about the organizations we support.

The organizations listed are included in the 2018 benevolence budget and provide congregation members an opportunity for both active and financial roles. For the 2018 calendar/fiscal year, Session voted to have 13% of church revenue, or $83,187, allocated to the Outreach Committee.

The Outreach Committee periodically meets with representatives of the organizations to review their missions, needs and outcomes.

NPC Is a “connectional church” meaning we believe in the Presbyterian form of government and actively participate with our sister churches at the Presbytery and General Assembly to develop meaningful national and worldwide mission efforts.

Outreach Committee Vision & Mission

Mission: To be good stewards of our gifts and contributions by identifying and capitalizing on the best opportunities to serve our neighbors in need and engage our faith as servants in Christ.

From the notes and photos we have received over the years, we know the gifts have brought joy not only to our recipients, but to their entire units as well.

Presby’s Inspired Life (cont’d)

Presby’s Inspired Life (previously known as 58th Street Presbyterian Home) grew out of a response by members of the Presbytery of Philadelphia to provide quality housing and long-term care for older adults. The first ommunity, later known as Rosemont, opened in 1955 to offer housing for 14 older adults. That community was the first of what is now Presby’s Inspired Life.

Presby’s Inspired Life, while in a covenantal relationship with the Presbytery of Philadelphia, does not receive any financial support from Presbytery. Presby’s Inspired Life includes 39 communities, of which 35 are Affordable Housing Communities. NPC’s donation is earmarked for the Affordable Housing Communities.

We work together to inspire, equip and connect all Presbyterians for the church’s work. PMA shares the love of Christ by working to eradicate hunger, support farmers, train peacemakers, educate children, assist with disaster recovery, end human trafficking, encourage cultural humility, engage in theological conversation and raise up diverse leaders to meet the needs of a changing world.

NPC participates in the Shared Mission giving, which is unrestricted giving that can go to programs with special needs or activities that aren’t covered by directed giving, including administrative expenses.
