WhentheSonofMancomes inhisglory . . . (Matthew

ThinkingabouttheSecondComingofJesuscanmakeusfeelalittlefearful.Weknowitwillbewonderfultobe with Jesus in heaven forever, but we also worryabout the unknown. Today, let’s try to put aside thisfear by imagining three scenes surrounding the Sec-ondComing.��

Scene1:FixyoureyesonwhatitwillbelikewhenyouseeJesussitting“uponhisgloriousthrone”withallthenationsgatheredaroundhim(Matthew25:31).Imag-inewhat Jesuswill say to this largestgatheringofalltime.The2013KumbhMelapilgrimageinIndiaiscur-rently the largest gathering, counting thirty millionpeople. But even this pales in comparison to the po-tentialofthirteenbillionpeoplecomingtogether!��

Scene 2: Fix your eyes on Jesus’ attractiveness. PopeJohnPaul IIattractedsomuchattentionwhereverhewent, simply because of his personality. He alwaysprojecteda senseof joyfulhope,of con7idence in theLord, and of love for the people he was with. Heseemed always tomake a personal, deep connectionwith his audience, nomatterwhat the occasionwas.Now,asattractiveashewas,PopeJohnPaulIIcannotcome close towhat will happen when Jesus returns.His love, his purity, and his joywill be unparalleled.Thisiswhyallthenationswillgatheraroundhim.��

Scene 3: Fix your eyes on the newheavens andnewearth that Jesuswillestablish. Imagineaplacewherethere is no need for doctors, police of7icers, prisons,militarybases,orhomelessshelters.ThinkofhowDis-neyland is called “the happiest place on earth.”Well,whenJesusushersinthenewcreation,the“magic”ofDisneywillseemmundaneandordinary.Therewillbenothing but peace, joy, and contentment in the pres-enceoftheLord.��

Keepthesescenesinmindalldaytoday.Letthemban-ishanyfearoftheunknown.��
