October 25th, Ora Et Labora: Due to Christ the King Sunday, it is nec-essary to transfer the First Saturday work day to the previous Saturday. All hands are needed that day to prepare for the Feast of Christ the King. We begin with breakfast after Mass and end with lunch at 1:00PM. We ask everyone to bring a dish to share. Many hands make light work, so come and join in.

October 26th, Sunday Mass will start at 8:30AM followed by the Proces-sion and then the International Festival, Diane Klements is the Chairper-son for the Altar Rosary Society portion of the Festival. Please contact her directly if you can help. Diane has several areas you might be able to han-dle. The list will be available in the vestibule.

November 1st, All Saints Day and First Saturday: Benediction, Rosary and Devotions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help followed by Mass at 10:00AM. The Youths’ Pageant will begin after mass ending in a luncheon of hot dogs and hamburgers. You are asked to bring a dish and dessert to share.

The “Per Quem Hæc Omnia” (Part 5 of 5) It is well to remark here that the Sacrifice of praise surrounds the Sacrifice of the Mass, whereby true life is given to the former. Holy Church has fixed the hour of the Divine Office called Tierce (to be said around the third hour of the day, or 9:00AM) for the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This was the hour at which the Holy Ghost came down upon the Church, hence at the beginning of this hour we are bid in the Office to say: Nunc Sancte nobis Spiritus – Now the Holy Spirit prompts us... The Church invokes this Divine Spirit who by His very presence gives warmth to her love and prepares her to offer the Great Sacrifice. Ever since Matins, the entire Divine Office has been lighted up by the beaming rays of this Sublime Sacrifice, and this influence will last on even unto the hour of Compline which concludes the Sacrifice of Praise. Formerly, as we have already said, the Elevation used to take place here at the end of the Canon. The Greeks have retained this Custom which is observed as follows: the priest having placed the host above the Chalice and said the words “Omnis honor et gloria”, turns towards the assembled faithful, holding the Body and Blood of our Lord which he shows to the people, while the Dea-con utters aloud these words: Sancta Sanctis: holy things for the holy! The Great Prayer of the Canon being ended, the Priest interrupts the silence which reigns in the holy assembly, by exclaiming: Per omnia saecula saeculorum. And the people answer: Amen, as a sign of approbation of what has just been done, and of union with the offering just presented to God. Dom Prosper Guéranger (1865–1865), Abbot of Solesmes. Translated from French into English by Reverend Dom Laurence Shepherd, monk of the Benedictine Congregation.

The seventh edition of 1513, the Society’s Florida newsletter

is now available. In preparation for the feasts at the end of the Liturgical Year, the topic of this issue is Charity and the Communion of Saints. All are invited to take a copy for free, although donations are also welcome.
