Complete Family DentistryThe beautiful flowerbeds in front of the Complete Family Dentistry

office are designed to soothe even the most nervous patient.

Dr. Dawn Wehking and her staff recently replanted the beds with

colorful, drought-tolerant perennials and cheery annuals to

evoke a cozy cottage feel—which is fitting considering that

the dentist’s office occupies what was once a historic

Old Town residence.

Turning the front yard of a house into the entry area for

an office isn’t easy. A pedestrian ramp creates a series

of slopes on the east side of the property, and the

west side must accommodate a large sign and a

driveway. Previous occupants solved the ramp

problem with bermed planting beds made from

earth and rock, and Wehking and her staff put in

privet hedges that will disguise the railing as they grow.

In the awkward strip between the driveway and the side of

the office, hearty day lilies not only withstand the radiant heat,

but also provide an unexpected touch of lushness for patients on

their way to the parking lot behind the office.

As newbie horticulturists, Wehking and her staff found that the process of

designing and planting a garden was an excellent team-building experience.

They look forward to seeing how their garden matures over the years.
