CIDC‐ Activities
Teerthanker Mahaveer University: Memorandum of Cooperation is entered upon between CIDC and Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) to enhance industry‐academia interaction for required modifications in the working dynamics of academic and R&D activities to meet the needs of the industry.
MoU Signed between CIDC & Govt. of Odisha: 20th June, 2012 was a great day when Odisha State Employment Mission Society (OSEMS), Employment & Technical Education & Training Department, Govt. of Odisha entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Construction Industries Development Council (CIDC) for skill development of human resources & placement of youth in the construction sector. The aim of this MoU is to develop the human resources by way of imparting vocational training in the construction sector as per the existing demand & create avenues for suitable livelihoods & expanding universe of knowledge to produce a world class work force. Under this agreement 5000 youth would be trained and 75% placed during the year 2012‐13 by CIDC. The target for the second and subsequent years will be scaled up @ 15% per annum. CIDC will organize skill development training for youth of minimum age of 18 years in various construction trades at CIDC centers to be set up in the state of Odisha or at other nominated centers in the State. All training would be mandatorily residential. Advance Construction Professional Program (ACPP): 45% of the students being trained in this assured placement program have already got placement for subsurface survey work.
Internship Programs: Thirty one students of various colleges are being trained in our current internship programs. These programs are being conducted for the students of the core engineering disciplines to provide them hands‐on engineering experience and to enhance their capabilities.
Long‐Term Industrial Internship Program: The first batch of Industrial Internship Program of six month duration has commenced training in June,2012.

One day interactive workshop with Partner Institutes: CIDC – Partner Institute Interaction Meeting was held on 15‐6‐2012 at CIDC Office Vishwakarma Pratham, Faridabad (Haryana). Initiating the meeting, Dr. P R Swarup, Director General, CIDC welcomed all the representatives of the Partner Institutions and apprised them of the objectives of the meeting. He explained in detail about other various construction skills enhancement programs offered by CIDC. Describing the benefits of these training programs for the Individual, Society, Construction Industry, Institutions and the Nation, he asked PIs to join hand and initiate these programs. Continuing discussion Mr. Rajiv Jain, Sr. Additional Director, CIDC gave detailed account of the Vocational Training Programs offered by the CIDC. In the post lunch session of the meeting Prof. Niranjan Swarup, Hon. Sr. Additional Director, CIDC explained the process of introducing various training programs at their centers and described the importance of industrial interaction for the skill enhancement and placement of the students. A presentation on CIDC’s Construction Proficiency Enhancement Programs was made by Dr. S K Ahmad. Besides introduction of the training programs and qualifications required, the presentation dealt with the issues related to opening training centers at PI’s locations. A detailed discussion on the progress of CIDC programs and impediments faced by PIs was also held in the meeting.
Training: A new batch in Electrical trade has been started on 20.06.2012 at CIDC Skill Training Centre at HMEL, Phullokheri, with batch strength of 40 candidates. Last batch (3rd batch) of GWS trade at EPIL, Joka started with a batch strength of 32 candidates. Another batch of 40 candidates in the trade of Mason was started at Aulali (Bihar) under BRLP on 18.06.2012. On the Job Training Programme: CIDC has initiated an On the Job Training Programme in which youths from the underprivileged sections from the rural areas are trained for a period of one month at our different training Centres and then placed at various construction sites for practical hands on training and for achieving competency in their trades. Our trainers accompany the trainees and guide them during their training period. Post training, the host organization has the first right of selection for employment. The following organizations have already joined hands with CIDC: Simplex Infrastructure Ltd, Kunnel Engineers & Contractors (P) Ltd, Era Group, Ray Construction Pvt Ltd, Cherian Varkey Construction Co. (P) Ltd, Parsan Overseas, Corporation, BG Shirke, Billimoria, Shapoorji Pallonji &Co. Ltd, Punj Lloyd.

Bangalore. 15 trainees in the trade of GWS form Ghaziabad training centre have gone for on the job training to B.G Shirke Construction company for their site at Dwarka, Rohini, Narela, in Delhi & another 15 trainees from Ghaziabad training centre is going to same construction company in Mumbai on 06.07.2012.
20 trainees in the trade of GWS from CIDC VKP Faridabad have gone to on the job training to Kunnel Engineers & Contractors Ltd. Bangalore & Coimbatore.
10 trainees in the trade of Land Surveyor from Ghaziabad training centre have gone to on the job training to Topcon Surveying (India) Pvt. Ltd, Faridabad.
15 trainees in the trade of Mason & GWS from Pawapuri training centre, Nalanda have gone to on the job training to Ballikheda for Construction of Asharmshala Building. Trained skilled workers Available for Placement:

MoA Signed between CIDC & DECT on Feb 29, 2012‐ Shillong: The Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training, Labour Department, Meghalaya, Shillong signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for training /skill development and placement of 400 trainees for job oriented vocational training course for the unemployed youths of Meghalaya.
