Now available in Our Lady Memorial Chapel, Adoration Prayer Greeting Cards! Consider spending an hour in adoration be-fore our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament as a special act of prayer for a particular person and their intentions. The card will be a most welcome gift of comfort and peace. Do Not Take a Vacation from God!

Remember Sunday Mass! Now that those lazy, hazy days of summer are upon us, it is time to relax and have a bit of family fun! However, for Catho-lics every Sunday (or Saturday evening) we have an obligation to assist at Holy Mass. Please remember to attend Mass even when away from our beloved Seton Parish. If you travel this summer, there will surely be a Catholic church nearby (church law requires the faithful to attend Mass as long as a church is within an hour distance and the means of transportation are available). Enjoy meeting Christians in different places and seeing their parish churches! Consider bringing us a bulletin from the parish you visit this summer. We enjoy reading about what other faith communities are doing. Maybe we can learn something from our brothers and sisters in other Catholic par-ishes. Remember, faithful participation in Holy Mass on the Lord’s Day will reap an everlasting reward! There is a free infor-mation center for traveling or vacationing Catholics. For na-tionwide information: MASS TIMES (1-410-676-6000) – www.Masstimes.org. Mother Seton, guide our families to stay close to Jesus and His Church during this period of summer vacation.

!All are invited to participate in this year's BJ's fundraiser. By participating, you receive a special membership discount of-fer of $15 (Inner Circle) or $25 (Perks Rewards) off your annual membership fee along with one additional month FREE!! BJ's will also donate $5 of your membership fee to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Scholarship Fund. This fundraiser will run for only three weeks – July 9th thru July 29th. Don’t pass up this GREAT DEAL! Please note that all applications will be processed at the end of the fund-raiser and should be completed by the end of August. See pages 7 & 8.

A Note about Becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation

It is a great honor to be asked to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a “godparent” is to be an “other parent” in matters of our holy Faith. That is why sponsors must be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older (14 years old in the Archdiocese of New York), having received Catholic Confirmation and currently living a good Christian moral life. If the sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. It is customary to have two for Baptism, in which case one must be male and the other female. Parents may not be sponsors. A baptized non-Catholic may replace the second Baptism sponsor as a Christian witness. Non-Christians may not be Sponsors. Former Catholics may not be sponsors. A nominated sponsor is asked to get certification from his/her current parish. This is a declaration by a priest/deacon that the individual is qualified to be a sponsor according to Church Law. To be so certified, the individual must be a current parishioner of the particular parish where the certification is being sought, and be known to the priest/deacon as being a faithful practicing Cath-olic, attending Mass there weekly. Those away at college or graduate school or in the military should seek certification from their campus ministries or chaplains. Unfortunately, at times, family members or friends are cho-sen to be sponsors with good intentions, but are found to be ineligible according to Church Law. Also, more and more, people seem to think that they are still “parishioners” of their childhood parish, where they attended school or re-ceived sacraments years ago, while no longer living in the area or attending Mass there regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities. Here, at Seton, Certificates of Sponsorship are given by the pastor to registered members of the parish who are practicing Catholics, and who meet the above criteria. Please see the pastor after Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday to inquire about getting a certificate.

Monthly Prayer Intentions of Pope Francis The Holy Father asks the people of the world to pray with him for the following during July: Evangelization: Lapsed Christians. That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.

TRAVELER'S PRAYER O Almighty and Merciful God, who hast commissioned Thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of fall and bruises, and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and es-pecially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
