Enthusiasm And Grammar

There is a good reason that the writings of St. Paul don’t show up as examples in grammar textbooks. Today’s reading is a case in point. It begins with one of those long Pauline run on sentences that leave lectors gasping for breath. So what? Take a closer look at how Paul’s fervor for his subject matter derails the grammar. There is something admirable about being so caught up in his convictions that the words cannot come fast enough to express them, much less in an orderly fashion. Scripture scholars usually take this grammatical ineptness as a sign of a passage’s early importance in the Christian community, something they were so ardent about that their language never got refined. What leaves us in this condition? Re-telling the plot line of an action movie or the play-by-play of a sporting event? When was the last time any of us was so excited by our faith in Christ that we were left grasping for words, stumbling over our own errors in speech? It may be bad grammar, but it is an excellent way to inspire others with the message of Christ! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Saint John Fisher (1469-1535) And Saint Thomas More (1477-1535) June 22

From Robert Bolt’s classic A Man for A ll Seasons to Showtime’s edgy The Tudors, Thomas More endears himself still: lawyer-statesman of impeccable integrity, remarried widower and affectionate father delighting in a lively household—four children, a pet monkey, even a paid jester! And challenges still: humanist-reformer, yet champion of Catholic faith and papal primacy. John Paul II named him Patron of Statesmen and Politicians, citing More’s generous work, both as a lawyer and in government service, on behalf of the poorest and most marginalized people of his time, as well as his promotion of education for all sectors of society. More’s decision for principle over politics, conscience over convenience prompted his final words: “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” Alone among England’s bishops, John Fisher dared challenge Henry VIII’s divorce and repudiation of the papacy. When the Pope named the imprisoned Fisher a cardinal, Henry thundered: “Don’t bother sending Fisher’s red hat here; I’ll send Fisher’s head to Rome!” Whose “good servants” are we first? Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time The psalmist cries out to God, “Lord, in your great love, answer me.” In each of our readings today, there is movement from darkness and despair to trusting in God as our source of salvation. Jeremiah sounds almost a madman as he describes the evil and vileness that surrounds him. In the midst of that terror, he professes his faith in God. Similarly, in Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans, we are reminded that one man, Jesus Christ, came into the world for the sake of many, to overcome the evil and sin that have been prevalent since Adam. In Mark, Jesus calls us from fear, sin, and darkness to live in the light. He reminds us that we are not alone and how very precious each of us is in the eyes of God. Indeed, God hears our cries! Do Not Be Afraid In our world today, it seems there are many things to make us fearful. We can become distraught over personal finances, relationships, poor choices our children are making, issues with jobs, the changing climate, the way our parish is being run, or a zillion other things. The problems may not even be evil but may be simply life and all its challenges. But these struggles are real, and sometimes we seek unhealthy solutions. Many people suffer with issues of anxiety and depression, and fear leads others to addiction as a means of coping. In our Gospel today, God lovingly calls us beyond that darkness to light.

You Are Worth More Than Many Sparrows Sometimes we look for very complex answers when a simple promise or solution is right in front of us. As I am writing and looking out the window, I see half a dozen little birds sitting in a bush. Their presence is a reminder to me of God’s love and care for each and every one of us. If something that seems so insignificant or incidental is known by God, how much more are we loved and cared for! Take a moment, look at the world around you, breathe, take it in, and ask God for the help you need. Turn matters over and place your trust in a loving God. Remember, though, Jesus seldom heals

without some sort of action on our part. When you have given your concern over to God, other concrete steps may be necessary. Is it time to schedule an appointment with a professional? Time to name an issue? Or time for the sacrament of reconciliation? Evil’s power comes from remaining in the darkness. When we no longer close ourselves off or suffer alone but share our concerns with someone, we can begin to grow and heal and move past them. It is seldom magical or instantaneous. It is a long arduous process. But we hold on to the simple reminder, “You are worth more than many sparrows!”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus:

I am sending a blessed greeting to all of you, and at the same time, I give thanks to God for all His blessings that they may fill your home with peace and joy.

Doing the work that God commands is not easy. It has many challenges and barriers that must be overcome to keep walking in peace and to accomplish what He wants. We have lived through times of trial that tested our patience and faith while we continue to tend to our physical and spiritual health. How many stories and experiences have we contemplated in this time? How many experiences with different emotions, such as pain, compassion or pleasure, have been experienced?

God calls us not to stay contemplating the negative aspects of life, but to encourage each other, knowing that He is a friendly God who is close to us and walks with us. For this reason, we are concerned with transmitting the message of the Gospel and spreading the Grace of God; this is what sustains us to live the challenges of life day by day.

Today the Prophet Jeremiah tells us about his bitter experience as a prophet in the midst of his people. Fighting to give the message of God, he made many enemies and suffered; however, he waited on the Lord and knew how to be thankful for God’s protection (Jeremiah 20:10-18). How much patience do we have to learn from the Word of God to guide our lives? Especially when things in our life seem to be a burden that suffocates us and tires us and we can’t find a moment of peace. We get a sense of hope by believing in God, knowing that He is a close Father and that we are not alone. We pray and leave our life in God's providence; God is good and compassionate. Let’s recall a phrase of Father Saint Pio that said “all concern is useless, because God is already working on the solution”, always for our good.

We just have to recognize the presence of God in our lives and in our homes and walk without fear; we have to be very confident in the hands of God, because as the Gospel says, even the hairs on our heads are numbered, do not be afraid (John 15:26b-27).

May God bless you and if, at this time, it is already possible to gather for the Eucharist, then let us walk together taking care of each other as brothers and doing everything with Christian hope. God bless you always! Fr. Francisco Miramontes Pastor

.When we say no to violence, we always imagine a knife,

a bomb, a gun. However, to me,

violence is caused by our attitude.

For example, telling people that

they are good for nothing, that they are lazy,

and that they are this, and that they are that.

I think this a great violence. If you and I could only

make that one strong resolution that we will say 'no' to violence,

and say 'yes' to peace by our kindness, by our attitude towards each other,

even in a small thing - help more than anything.

When we meet each other, it would help more than anything.

Sunday, June 10, 2020 My dear brothers and sisters, This pandemic and necessary social distancing has resulted in a time in which we have not able to celebrate or attend mass as a community. I am happy to make a joyful announcement that we will return to public celebration of outdoor mass starting June 15th (Monday), with much needed care and caution. As we know this pandemic is not over, the risk factor remains the same until a vaccine is found. Precautions need to be taken to protect the health of our fellow parishioners. Our communities will be our priority. I ask that you to receive this information with understanding and a loving patient heart. All changes in public gatherings are based on the protocol provided by The Santa Clara County Public Health Depart-ment and with the guidance of the Diocese of San Jose. When you arrive at the church for Mass, you will notice immediately that there are changes: for your safety and safety of people around you, please act responsibly by carefully following all guidelines, including the following:

Call 669-699-8741 between 9am - 7pm weekdays to reserve your seat prior to the mass. - Seniors and those with underlying health conditions, are strongly discouraged from attending the outdoor mass. Please know you are in my prayers always.

- Beginning Monday, June 15,2020, there will be an Outdoor mass at 8:30 am. Attendance will be strictly limited to 25 people including the Presider, Lectors and Ushers.

- Please arrive 20 to 30 minutes before mass: ushers will have the reserved sign-up name list at the entrance of the Church.

- ONLY the parishioners who have signed up to reserve a seat will be allowed to attend Mass for the respective day. We encourage each parishioner to bring their own folding chair for the Mass.

- Please have patience and carefully follow the ushers instructions on entering, seating, actions during the mass and the exiting

- Persons who have been exposed to COVID-19 or are caring for COVID-19 patients should not attend Mass or other parish gatherings.

- Children must always remain under the close supervision of parents/family.

- At the entrance of the church parking lot, ushers will have a sign-up sheet. Please provide the information that will be requested; this is a protocol by The Santa Clara County Public Health Department.

- When the usher have accepted 25 mass attendees, the church entrance will be closed.

- Six feet of physical distance must always be maintained. Families (or other persons) who share a residence do not need to observe physical distancing.

- Face masks or coverings are required (for persons over the age of 6 years) to enter the outdoor mass at the church.

- Hand sanitizer is to be used when entering the Church. Parishioners are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer with them for mass.

- Singing may be suspended, as this is one way in which the virus has been known to spread.

- No exchange of the sign of peace by the touch of hands is permitted.

- Collection baskets will be placed by the entrance or exit of the church.

- The distribution of Communion on the tongue is suspended.

- Sanitize your hands before walking to receive communion.

- Communion- Wear facemask at all times. When you approach to the Priest/ Deacon/ Eucharistic Ministers and extend your hands, maintaining as much distance as possible.

- After receiving Communion on the hand, move 6-feet to the side (marking will be available) away from the minister.

- With your free hand, lower face mask, consume the host, reposition your face mask, and return to your seat immediately.

- After mass, please follow the usher’s direction for exciting the church. No Social gathering is encouraged. Immediately proceed to your vehicle.

- Most importantly, Church facilities and Parish Ministry Center (PMC) facility will remain closed until further notice.

Weekend masses will continue to be recorded and posted on the social media of St. Elizabeth Church. In fact, we strongly encourage those who are older or have underlying health conditions or otherwise are more vulnerable to this virus, to remain at home and continue to participate in Mass remotely. Of course, if you are sick in any way, or if you have any symptoms of illness, for the safety of others, please do not come to Mass. I encourage you to wear a face mask and to see this as a simple kindness to your fellow parishioners, I pray that we follow the instructions, and take care of our health and the health of our loved ones. I respect your feeling of missing the regular day Mass, but taking care of ourselves is a gift which we give back to our healthcare providers, who are already carrying a heavy burden for us. Let’s not cause a new spike due to carelessness. We need to hold our fellow parishioners and their families in our thoughts, and prayers. Most of all, I ask you to be patient. I pray for each one of you, whether you join the outdoor Mass at the church or in your home. Please continue to pray for St Elizabeth Church, our families, and the challenges we face. I once again thank you all for your attention, understanding and support. May the love of our God, the peace of Jesus and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you always. Corona Virus Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.”

At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus,

that we may experience your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus.

May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear,

which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another. Heal us from our pride,

which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Lord Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace. Be with the families of those who are sick or have died.

As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your Peace. Amen

T ư C C Xứ Chúa nhật, ngày 21 tháng 06 năm 2020 Anh chị em thân mến trong Đức Giêsu Kitô, Tôi xin gửi lời chúc bình an đến anh chị em, cùng với lời tạ ơn Chúa vì Ngài đã tuôn tràn đầy niềm an bình và hân hoan xuống trên gia đình anh chị em. Thực hành những điều Chúa dạy thật không dễ dàng chút nào bởi có quá nhiều thử thách và ngăn trở, đòi hỏi chúng ta phải vượt qua để tiếp tục tiến bước trong bình an và hoàn thành thánh ý của Ngài. Chúng ta

đã phải trải qua những giai đoạn thử thách lòng kiên nhẫn và đức tin của chúng ta trong khi ta vẫn tiếp tục hướng đến mục tiêu về sức khoẻ thể chất cũng như đời sống thiêng liêng. Có bao nhiêu câu chuyện và những trải nghiệm mà chúng ta đã được thấm nhuần trong thời gian này, cũng như các trải nghiệm với đầy đủ cảm giác hỉ, nộ, ái, ố mà ta đã có? Chúa mời gọi chúng ta không phải cứ mãi lưu luyến với các cảm giác buồn phiền tiêu cực nhưng để chúng ta biết khuyến khích lẫn nhau, nhận biết rằng Ngài là Thiên Chúa từ ái thân thiện luôn gần gũi và đồng hành với chúng ta. Vì lẽ này, chúng ta luôn quan tâm đến việc truyền tải những thông điệp của Tin Mừng và loan truyền ân sủng của Thiên Chúa; đây chính là những gì duy trì để chúng ta sống mỗi ngày với những thử thách của cuộc đời.

Hôm nay chúng ta thấy ngôn sứ Giêrêmia thuật lại những cay đắng ông đã trải qua trong cuộc sống của một vị tiên tri giữa dân tộc của ông. Ông đã gây nên nhiều thù địch trong việc tranh đấu để truyền giảng thông điệp của Thiên Chúa; tuy vậy ông vẫn kiên nhẫn đợi chờ Thiên Chúa và biết cách tỏ lòng biết ơn sự gìn giữ của Ngài (Sách Giêrêmia chương 20, câu 10-18). Chúng ta đã kiên nhẫn đến mức nào trong việc học hỏi Lời Chúa để hướng dẫn đời sống chúng ta? Nhất là trong những lúc chúng ta mệt mỏi, tưởng chừng ngạt thở do những gánh nặng của cuộc sống, không thể tìm ra được phút giây an bình nào. Chúng ta có được cảm giác hy vọng cậy trông bởi niềm tin vào Chúa, nhận biết rằng Ngài là người Cha luôn bên cạnh, không để chúng ta đơn độc. Chúng ta cầu nguyện và dâng cuộc sống chúng ta lên cho Chúa quan phòng. Chúa là Đấng tốt lành và từ bi. Ta hãy nhớ lại câu nói của Cha Thánh Piô:” Mọi lo lắng đều vô ích , bởi vì Chúa đã có giải pháp" luôn dành các điều tốt đẹp cho ta.

Chúng ta chỉ cần nhận thức được sự hiện hữu của Thiên Chúa trong cuộc sống và trong gia đình chúng ta, để tiến bước không lo sợ; chúng ta phải vững tin trong cánh tay che chở của Chúa, bởi như Tin Mừng đã nói: ”Ngay cả từng sợi tóc trên đầu chúng ta đã được đếm, không có gì phải sợ hãi!” (Sách Thánh Gioan, chương 15, câu 26b-27).

Xin Chúa ban ơn lành cho tất cả anh chị em, và nếu như lúc này chúng ta đã có thể được họp mặt qua việc cử hành Thánh Thể, chúng ta hãy cùng đồng hành trong việc chăm sóc lẫn nhau như các huynh đệ và thực hành mọi việc trong niềm hy vọng của người Kitô hữu.

Chúa Nhật, ngày 10 tháng 06 năm 2020 Anh chị em thân mến, Trận đại dịch và sự giãn cách xã hội đã tạo ra một hướng mới, trong đó chúng ta không thể tụ tập quây quần để cùng nhau cử hành hoặc tham dự thánh lễ. Tôi rất hân hoan khi được thông báo cùng anh chị em về tin vui rằng chúng ta sẽ lại được cùng tham dự thánh lễ ngoài trời, bắt đầu từ ngày thứ Hai 15 tháng 6, với rất nhiều sự cẩn trọng cần thiết. Như chúng ta đã biết, vì bệnh dịch chưa hết, nguy cơ rủi ro vẫn cao cho đến khi có thuốc chủng ngừa. Vệc đề phòng để bảo vệ sức khoẻ cho giáo hữu và cho cả cộng đồng là ưu tiên hàng đầu của chúng ta. Tôi rất mong anh chị em đón nhận tin này với tấm lòng cảm thông, yêu mến và kiên nhẫn. Tất cả những thay dổi trong sự tụ họp công cộng dựa trên phương thức của Sở Y Tế Quận Hạt Santa Clara và sự hướng dẫn của giáo phận San Jose. Khi đến nhà thờ để tham dự thánh lễ, chúng ta sẽ nhân ra các thay đổi, xin hãy vui lòng tuân theo những chỉ dẫn một cách nghiêm túc, vì sự an toàn của chính chúng ta và những người xung quanh. Xin gọi số điện thoại (669) 699-8741 trong khoảng thời gian từ 9 giờ sáng đến 5 giờ chiều những ngày trong tuần (từ thứ hai đến thứ Sáu) để biết chỗ ngồi của mình trước khi đến tham dự thánh lễ. * Những vị từ 65 tuổi trở lên và những ai bị bệnh nên ở nhà. * Thánh lễ 8 giờ 30 sáng ở ngoài trời bắt đầu từ thứ Hai, 15 tháng 6, 2020, và những người tham dự phải giới hạn, tối đa là 25 người bao gồm Cha chủ tế, những người đọc sách Thánh, lời nguyện và lo trật tự. * Vui lòng tời sớm 20' trước giờ lễ; người lo trật tự sẽ đứng ở lối vào nhà thờ với danh sách những người đã ghi tên trước để tham dự thánh lễ. * CHỈ CÓ những giáo hữu nào đã gi danh và có chỗ cho buổi lễ hôm đó mới được vào tham dự thánh lễ. * Xin vui lòng kiên nhẫn theo sự hướng dẫn của người lo trật tự để đi vào đúng chỗ ngồi trong suốt buổi lễ cho đến khi ra ngoài. * Những người đã tiếp xúc với người nhiễm bệnh COVID-19 hoặc đang chăm sóc cho bệnh nhân Covid-19 không nên tham dự thánh lễ và bất cứ buổi họp mặt nào khác trong giáo xứ. * Cha mẹ/gia đình phải luôn để ý coi chừng cho trẻ em ngồi yên chỗ. * Ở lối vào nhà thờ, những người lo trật tự sẽ có sẵn danh sách những người đã được giữ chỗ, xin vui lòng cung cấp thông tin cá nhân theo yêu cầu; đây là quy định của Sở Y Tế Công cộng Hạt Santa Clara. * Khi người lo trật tự đã có đủ số 25 người dự lễ theo quy định, lối vào nhà thờ sẽ được đóng lại.

* Xin luôn giữ khoảng cách 6 feet. Các gia đình (hoặc những người ở cùng một nhà) sẽ không bắt buộc phải giữ khoảng cách với nhau. * Tất cả từ 6 tuổi trở lên bắt buộc phải có khẩu trang khi vào nhà thờ. * Phải dùng thuốc khử trùng tay trước khi vào nhà thờ. Những giáo hữu phải tự mang thuốc khử trùng này để dùng cho việc tham dự thánh lễ. * Sẽ không hát xướng vì được biết đây là một nguyên nhân phát tán vi khuẩn. * Không bắt tay khi chúc bình an. * Những giỏ quyên tiền sẽ được đặt ở lối vào hoặc lối ra của nhà thờ. * Việc trao Mình Thánh Chúa trên lưỡi sẽ không được áp dụng. * Khử trùng tay cho sạch trước khi lên Rước Lễ. * Khi Rước Lễ: luôn mang khẩu trang khi tiến đến gần Cha chủ tế, thầy Phó tế hoặc những người trao Mình Thánh Chúa, rồi đưa tay thật xa, giữ khoảng cách xa nhất có thể được. - Sau khi nhận Mình Thánh trên tay, hãy lùi ra bên cạnh 6 feet (theo vạch đã đánh dấu), cách xa người trao Mình Thánh. - Dùng bàn tay không phải giữ Mình Thánh để kéo khẩu trang xuống, đặt Mình Thánh vào miệng, che khẩu trang lại như cũ và trở về chỗ ngồi ngay lập tức. * Sau thánh lễ, xin theo sự chỉ dẫn của người lo trật tự để ra khỏi nhà thờ; không được ở lại tụ tập, đi ra xe của mình ngay lập tức. * Đ iều quan trọng nhất: các cơ sở của nhà xứ và Trung tâm Sinh hoạt chung sẽ phải tiếp tục đóng cửa cho đến khi có thông báo mới. Những thánh lễ cuối tuần sẽ được thu hình và đăng tải trên kênh truyền thông xã hội của giáo xứ. Thực sự, chúng tôi khuyến khích mạnh mẽ các vị lớn tuổi, hoặc có những căn bệnh sẵn, hoặc dễ bị vi khuẩn tấn công... nên ở nhà và tiếp tục tham dự thánh lễ qua mạng. Nếu quý vị đang bị bệnh hoặc có những triệu chứng bệnh, đương nhiên là quý vị nên ở nhà vì sự an toàn của người khác, vui lòng đừng đến tham dự thánh lễ. Tôi khẩn thiết mong quý ông bà anh chị em khi đọc những quy định này, đừng cho rằng đây là những áp đặt của linh mục chánh xứ, mong mọi người hiểu rằng đây chỉ là những thay đổi tạm thời ngoài ý muốn. Tôi khuyến khích mọi người đeo khẩu trang vì đó là cách đơn giản để bảo vệ cho mọi người trong giáo xứ. Tôi cầu xin cho chúng ta theo đúng các quy định để có thể chăm sóc sức khoẻ của chính chúng ta cũng như của những nguòi thân yêu. Tôi rất tôn trọng tâm trạng của quý vị vì đã không được tham dự thánh lễ hàng ngày; nhưng biết tự chăm sóc bản thân chính là món quà tặng mà

chúng ta có thể đền đáp cho các bác sĩ, y tá, những vị đã mang nặng trách nhiệm lo cho sức khoẻ chúng ta, đừng để xảy ra những đợt dịch bệnh nghiêm trong chỉ vì sự lơ là cẩu thả của chúng ta. Chúng ta cần nhớ đến mọi người trong giáo xứ cùng với gia đình của họ, nhớ đến trong lời cầu nguyện và trong trách nhiệm phải cùng nhau vượt qua cơn dịch bệnh Covid-19. Và trên hết, tôi mong mỏi quý ông bà và anh chị em hãy giữ lòng kiên nhẫn với cha chánh xứ, các linh mục, những tình nguyện viên giữ trật tự và việc tham dự của tất cả chúng tôi, những người đang cố gắng hết khả năng để hồi phục lại những buổii cử hành thánh lễ theo phương cách an toàn nhất. Một lần nữa tôi xin cám ơn tất cả quý vị đã chú ý, thông cảm và hỗ trợ cho chúng tôi. Nguyện xin tình yêu Thiên Chúa, niềm an bình của Chúa Giêsu và ơn Thông Hiệp của Chúa Thánh Thần ở cùng tất cả anh chị em luôn mãi. Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo Jesús:

Un saludo fraterno para todos y dando gracias a Dios por todas sus bendiciones, y que les llene de paz y alegría en sus hogares.

Hacer el trabajo que Dios manda no es nada sencillo pues tiene muchos retos y barreras que hay que superar y seguir caminan-do con paz continuando con lo que Dios quiere. Hemos vivido tiempos de prueba a nuestra paciencia y fe, y continuamos con los cuidados en nuestra salud física, pero no debemos olvidar nuestra salud espiritual. ¿Cuántas historias y experiencias hemos contemplado en este tiempo? ¿Cuántas experiencias dolorosas en familia, o quizá muchas de ellas muy bellas y agradables?

Dios nos invita a no quedarnos contemplando lo negativo sino animarnos unos a otros sabiendo que Él es un Dios cercano y amigo que camina con nosotros. Por eso en estos momentos preocuparnos por transmitir el mensaje del Evangelio y vivir en Gracia de Dios, que es lo que nos sostiene para vivir día a día los retos de la vida.

Hoy el Profeta Jeremías nos habla de su amarga experiencia como profeta en medio de su pueblo, luchando por dar el mensaje de Dios se ganó muchos enemigos y sufre, pero espera en el Señor y sabe agradecer la protección que le ofrece. Jeremías 20:10-18. ¿Cuánto hay que aprender de la Palabra de Dios para guiar nuestra vida? Especialmente cuando las cosas en nuestra vida parecen ser un peso que agobia, que cansa y que no miramos un espacio de paz. Creer, y saber que Dios es un Padre cercano y que no estamos solos, orando y dejando en manos de la providencia de Dios, nos da un sentido de esperan-za. Dios es bueno y compasivo, recordando una frase del Padre San Pío decía ‘toda preocupación es inútil, porque Dios ya se trabaja en la solución’ siempre para nuestro bien.

Simplemente hay que reconocer la presencia de Dios en nuestra vida, en nuestros hogares y caminar sin temores, pero muy confiados en las manos de Dios, al fin dice el Evangelio que hasta los cabellos de nuestra cabeza están contados, no tengan miedo. Juan 15:26b-27.

Dios les bendiga y si en este tiempo ya es posible reunirnos para la Eucaristía, entonces caminemos juntos cuidando como hermanos unos de otros y haciendo todo con esperanza cristiana.

Entusiasmo y Gramática

Hay una buena razón para que los escritos de Pablo no se usen como modelos de gramática correcta hoy. La lectura de hoy nos ofrece un buen ejemplo de que para Pablo el mensaje tenía precedencia sobre la gramática. La primera oración es bastante larga y deja a los lectores sin aire; luego hay una serie de declaraciones que están hilvanadas sólo en la mente de Pablo. Pero, ¿qué importa? El fervor de Pablo es tan evidente que las palabras no le salen lo suficientemente rápidas para expresar sus ideas de manera ordenada. Los estudiosos de la Escritura regularmente interpretan su falta de sentido gramático como señal de la importancia de un pasaje en la Iglesia joven; como algo tan importante para ellos que el lenguaje que usaron nunca fue refinado. ¿Qué puede causar tal estado? ¿Contar la trama de una película de acción o describir jugada por jugada de un juego de fútbol? ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que estuvimos tan excitados por nuestra fe en Cristo que nos faltaba el aire al contarlo, o cometíamos errores gramaticales por hablar con tanto entusiasmo? ¡Puede que sea ejemplo de mala gramática, pero es una manera excelente de inspirar a otros con el mensaje de Cristo! San Luis Gonzaga (1568-1591) 21 de junio

Luis Gonzaga nació en palacio y gozó de la vida cortesana. Desde los cinco años su padre le inició en la vida militar, esperando que además de heredar el trono, hiciera carrera política y militar. Pero su madre quería que fuera sacerdote. A los siete años tuvo una experiencia de Dios y ahí cambió su vida, pues se prometió a sí mismo que sería santo y comenzó a ayunar varias veces por semana. Posteriormente, a los 14 años renunció a su título nobiliario y a sus herencias, cediéndolas a su hermano. Mientras estudiaba filosofía en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares leyó la vida de los misione-ros jesuitas y decidió hacerse jesuita. Ingresó al noviciado jesuita a los 17 años, bajo la dirección de san Roberto Belar-mino. Ahí, el padre superior, le pidió que redujera sus horas de oración y a lo extremado de sus penitencias. Por esos años una epidemia azotó Roma y él, sin pensarlo dos veces, se ofreció de voluntario en el hospital, donde se contagió de la enferme-dad, encontrando la muerte a los 23 años. —Miguel Arias, Copyright © J. Oración por la Sanación del Corona Virus

Señor Jesucristo, viajaste por pueblos y ciudades “sanando cualquier padecimiento y enfermedad.” A una orden tuya, los enfermos sanaron.

Ven en nuestra ayuda ahora, en medio del contagio del corona virus, que podamos experimentar tu amor sanador. Sana a los contagiados por el virus. Que puedan recuperar su salud y fortaleza a través del cuidado medico. Sana nuestros miedos, que impiden a las naciones de trabajar unidas y a al prójimo de apoyarse uno a otro.

Sana de nuestro orgullo, que nos hace vulnerables a la enfermedad que no conoce fronteras. Señor Jesucristo, que todo lo sanas, quédate a nuestro lado en este tiempo de incertidumbre y dolor.

Mira por los que han muerto a causa del virus. Que descansen en ti y encuentren tu eterna paz.

Cuida de las familias de aquellos que están enfermos o han muerto. Y que están preocupados y sufren, defiéndenos de la enfermedad y tristeza. Y que encuentren tu paz.

¡No Tengas Miedo!

En nuestro mundo actual, parece que hay muchas cosas que nos hacen temerosos. Podemos ponernos angustia-dos por nuestras finanzas personales, relaciones, decisiones mediocres que nuestros hijos hacen, problemas en el trabajo, el cambio climático, la manera en que nuestra parroquia es administrada o un millón de otras cosas. Los problemas quizá ni siquiera son malos, sino que solo es la vida y todos sus cambios. Pero estas dificultades son auténticas y algunas veces buscamos soluciones malsanas. Muchas personas sufren problemas de ansiedad y depresión, y la angustia lleva a otras hacia la adicción como una forma de enfrentarlas. En el Evangelio de hoy, Dios amorosamente nos llama de la oscuridad profunda a la luz. Eres más valioso que los pájaros

Algunas veces buscamos respuestas complejas cuando una solución simple está frente a nosotros. Al estar escribiendo y viendo por la ventana, veo la mitad de una docena de pájaros pequeños parados en un arbusto. Su presencia nos recuerda al amor de Dios y su cuidado por cada uno de nosotros. Si algo que parece tan insignificante o fortuito lo conoce Dios, ¡cuánto más nosotros somos amados y cuidados! Toma un momento, mira el mundo alrededor tuyo, respira, inhala, y pide la ayuda de Dios en tus necesidades. Dale vuelta a ese asunto y pon tu confian-za en un Dios amoroso. Recuerda, sin embargo, Jesús pocas veces sana sin algún tipo de acción de nuestra parte. Cuando pongas tus preocu-paciones en las manos de Dios, quizá pueden ser necesa-rios otros pasos. ¿Es tiempo de sacar una cita con un profesional? ¿Hora de ponerle nombre al problema? ¿O es el tiempo para confesarse en el Sacramento de la Reconci-liación? La fuerza del mal surge por permanecer en la os-curidad. Cuando ya no nos cerramos o sufrimos solos, sino que compartimos nuestras preocupaciones con alguien, podemos empezar a crecer, sanar y empezar a superarlos.

Rara vez es mágico o instantáneo. Es un proceso prologado y difícil. Pero nos aferramos a un recordatorio sen-cillo, “¡tú eres más valioso que muchos pájaros!”

10 de junio, 2020 Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas, Este pandémico y distanciamiento social ha creado un nuevo camino en el que no hemos podido celebrar o asistir a misa como comunidad. Estoy feliz de hacer un alegre anuncio de que volveremos a las celebraciones públicas de misa al aire libre a partir del 15 de junio (lunes), con la atención y la precaución necesarias. Como sabemos que esta pandemia no ha terminado, el factor de riesgo sigue siendo el mismo hasta que se encuentre una vacuna. Se deben tomar precauciones para proteger la salud de nuestros compañeros feligreses y nuestras comunida-des serán nuestra prioridad. Les pido que reciban esta información con un corazón paciente y comprensivo. Todos los cambios en las reuniones públicas se basan en el protocolo del Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Santa Clara y con la guía de la Diócesis de San José. Cuando lleguen a la iglesia para la misa, notarán de inmediato que hay cambios, sigan cuidadosamente las pautas para la seguridad de nosotros y de las personas a su alrededor con responsabilidad: Llame al 669-699-8741 entre las 9 a.m. y las 7 p.m. de lunes a viernes para reservar su asiento antes de la misa. • Hay restricciones para personas mayores de 65 años que estén delicados de salud o no, estas perso-nas no pueden asistir a misa por su seguridad.

• Misa al aire libre a las 8:30 am a partir del lunes 15 de junio de 2020, la asistencia estará estrictamente limitada a 25 personas, incluidos el Sacerdote, los lectores y los acomodadores.

• Llegue amablemente 20 a 30 minutos antes de la misa. Los acomodadores tendrán la lista de nombres de registro reservados a la entrada de la Iglesia.

• SOLO a los feligreses que se hayan inscrito se les permitirá asistir a misa para el día respectivo.

• Tenga paciencia y siga las instrucciones de los acomodadores al entrar, sentarse, durante la misa y la salida.

• Las personas que han estado expuestas a COVID-19 o que están cuidando a pacientes con COVID-19 no deben asistir a misas u otras reuniones parroquiales.

• Los niños siempre deben permanecer bajo la estrecha supervisión de los padres / familia.

• En la entrada de la iglesia, los acomodadores tendrán una hoja de inscripción, por favor proporcionen la información necesaria. Este es un protocolo del Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Santa Clara. • Cuando el acomodador haya aceptado a las 25 personas asistentes, la entrada de la iglesia estará cerrada.

• Se deben mantener siempre séis piés de distancia física. Las familias (u otras personas) que comparten una residencia no necesitan observar distanciamiento físico.

• Se requieren máscaras faciales o coberturas (para personas mayores de 6 años) para ingresar a la iglesia.

• El desinfectante de manos se debe usar al entrar a la iglesia. Se pide a los feligreses que traigan su propio desinfectante de manos para la misa.

• Tal vez se suspenderá el canto ya que ésta es una forma en que se sabe que el virus se propaga.

• No se intercambia el signo de la paz con el toque de las manos.

• Comunión: use mascarilla en todo momento cuando se acerque al Sacerdote / Diácono / Ministros Eucarísticos y extienda sus manos, manteniendo la mayor distancia posible.

Después de recibir la comunión en la mano, aléjese 6 pies hacia un lado (habrá marcas disponibles) lejos del ministro.

Con su mano libre, baje la máscara facial, consuma la hostia, vuelva a colocar su máscara facial y regrese a su asiento de inmediato.
