The  Holidays  Are  Right  Around  The  Corner!

What Happened In November?

HILLSIDE-HOJO C o m m u n i t y

What  better  way  to  get  over  a  month  of  a  hurricane  AND  a  Snow  storm  then  some  warm  thanksgiving  food  huh?!    That’s  right  folks,  this  past  month  was  our  chance  to  gather  ourselves  together  after  that  horrible  Sandy  and  climb  back  on  our  grind  as  school  slowly  but  surely  reaches  winter  break.

As  we  all  gave  thanks  to  all  that  we  are  grateful  for  not  all  of  our  Pace  Setters  were  able  to  travel  home.    With  that  said,  I’d  like  to  personally  thank  all  of  those  who  attended  and  were  involved  in  planning  the  thanksgiving  feast  that  took  place  in  Butcher  over  our  Thanksgiving  break.

We  had  some  lovely  times  during  this  past  month  of  November  and  here  is  your  chance  to  reminisce  or  catch  up  if  you  missed  out  on  our  Thanksgiving  Month.  Check  it  Out!

What  went  down  in  the  month  of  the  Turkey?

GOBBLE GOBBLE!

Our  Residents  of  The  Month  for  October  Are…

Hojo:    Lizzie  Diaz  &  Michelle  Delarue

Hillside:    Daniel  Duque

RA  Chantel  &  RA  Sasha  or  “The  Ladies  of  Hojo”  had  an  awesome  event  called  Sex  In  The  Lounge.    This  Sex

education  event  allowed  students  to  learn  about  STDs    by  trading  candy  that  represented  an  STD.  Be  Safe!

RA  JJ  &  RA  Victoria  or  the  “Season  Vets”  also  had  an  event  together  where  they  discussed  studying  and

healthy  eating  habits  that  might  actually  save  your  life

RA  Morgan  also  her  own  event  where  she  allowed  residents  to  get  just  a  small  taste  of  what  an  RA  does

my  having  them  make  their  own  door  tags!

RA  Vickie  also  brought  her  “A”  game  when  it  came  to  sex  this  month!    She  educated  the  residents  on  some  disturbing  and  sobering  statistics  that  happen  to  be

true  in  a  college  environment!

RA  Morgan  &  RA  Nick  or  The  “First  Floor  Fighters”  also  paired  up  to  throw  a  Sex  Education  event  Full  of

Games  such  as  Pin  the  boobs  on  the  babe  and  pin  the  Junk  on  the  Hunk!    No  Glove  No  Love!

Quote of the month:

“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”

If you feel as though you are down or stressed, feel free to come knock on our RA doors, we are always here to talk.

RA Samara would like to give a BIG Thank You to all the residents who helped make her bulletin board beautiful. Valley residents filled out and decorated turkey feathers, writing what they are thankful for. For a reward, the residents received cookies to enjoy while making their feathers. The finish product was admired by many people who walked around the 2nd floor girls. A short poem was about being Thankful was also placed for residents to read and feel thankful.

CONGRATULATIONS to RA Megan and Hall

Council for winning the Halloween Door Decorating

contest. Thank you to all the valley residents who

took part in the haunted house. If it were not for your

participation and standing outside in the cold to scare

the judges, we would have not won.

After a slow start, the Dow Hall Council has gotten on a roll with events. They decorated

the Hall beautifully for the holidays with the help of residents Sara, Marco,

Christina, and others. Dow Hall glistens with holiday lights and

a countdown leading to the clock with 2013 across the

face. Check out our Hanukkah table and other decorations!

Keep Your Eyes Open for

Upcoming Events: • Classic Christmas Movie

Night in Pace Perk • Holiday Baking Contest • Holiday Door Decorating

Contest (with $10 Coldstone giftcard for the

winner!)

RD Report November started a bit roughly between the effects of the Hurricane and the snowstorm, but Dow Hall residents handled themselves well. I heard very few complaints and was impressed with how flexible everyone was. I want to thank all of our residents for participating in all of our events. You are the reason that they are successful! We hope to continue to make Dow Hall a better place to live.

Do you have ideas to improve Dow Hall? Do you like planning events and programs? Dow Hall Council needs YOU! If you are interested in becoming a Section Rep, come to our Hall Council Meeting on Tuesday nights at 10pm in the lobby to find out more!

With all of that said, no one had it

harder than a New Dorm Resident that

lost his entire home as a result of the

hurricane. The resident lives in central

Long Island which was one of the

most effected areas in New York.

To help out or resident and his family,

the New Dorm Staff hosted A Night of

Fun in Pace Perk that included activi-

ties such as pool, karaoke, bingo,

snow cones, and pop-corn. We were

able to raise almost $300 to donate to

the family.

Residents of New Dorm and other

Residence Halls in Briarcliff came out

and were highly supportive of the pro-

gram.

I think the residents and the Pace

Community in general realized how

fortunate we all are to have each

other in the time of crisis.
