Goodman St., Lot 1, Sparks, was arrested Wednes- day, May 18, and charged with child molestation (two counts) and felony sexual battery (two counts), according to the Adel Police Department. Adel Police Det. Capt. Jon Blake took warrants in the case. According to the war- rants, on two occasions be- tween 2011 and 2016 in Adel, Jessup fondled and touched in an intimate manner a girl under the age of 16. Magistrate Court has set bond for Jessup at $20,000, with the stipulation that he must have no further contact with the victim. According to information provided by Jes- sup at the bond hearing, he has resided a few months at his current address, has obtained a GED, and is unemployed. Other recent criminal cases of note: Troy Lee Roach, 23, 116 Grace Lane, Sparks, was arrested Wednes- day, May 18, and charged with possession of a controlled sub- stance with intent to distribute, possession of methampheta- mine, possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, prescrip- tion drugs must be in original container violation, and pos- session of tools for the com- mission of a crime, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy James Finney took warrants in the case. Accord- ing to the warrants, at about 9 p.m. May 18 on Highway 41 North, Roach had two dosing units of methylphenidate. At the Grace Lane, Sparks, ad- dress, Roach allegedly had meth, marijuana, a metal pipe used to smoke marijuana, a light bulb used to smoke meth, and a set of scales. On Friday, May 20, Chief Magistrate Judge Melvin Sim- mons denied bond (pretrial re- lease) for Roach. The judge’s order states that the “accused poses a significant threat or danger to people and property in the community” and the “accused poses a significant threat of committing a felony pending trial.” Also, Roach was already on bond for felony charges. According to infor- mation provided at the bond hearing, Roach has completed school through the 10th grade, has resided 23 years at his cur- rent address, and is unem- ployed. The defendant may still seek bond in a hearing be- fore a Superior Court judge. Jessica Shawn McDaniel, 35, Ala- paha, was arrested Tuesday, May 10, and charged with theft by shoplifting – felony (multiple prior counts) and criminal trespass, according to the Adel Police Department. Adel Police Sgt. John Roberts took warrants in the case. According to the war- rants, at about 2:43 p.m. May 10 at Walmart of Adel, Ms. McDaniel took lighter fuel, batteries, Mike’s Hard Lemon- ade, and frozen alcohol drink mixes and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. She had been warned not to be on the prop- erty of Walmart. On Friday, May 13, Judge Simmons denied bond (pretrial release) for Ms. McDaniel be- cause she was already on pro- bation for shoplifting and on bond for possession of methamphetamine. The defen- dant may still seek bond in a hearing before a Superior Court judge. James K. Liggins, 22, Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested Thursday, May 19, and charged with DUI of alcohol, possession of open al- cohol container, driving while license suspended, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and criminal trespass, accord- ing to the Sparks Police De- partment. Officer Zembalist Banks took warrants in the case. Ac- cording to the warrants, at about 6:56 p.m. May 19, Lig- gins damaged the landscap- ing/fence of Horse Creek Winery and tried to elude a Sparks Police car in his vehi- cle. Liggins was released from jail Monday, May 23, on a $6,800 property bond, with court pending. Judge Howard McClain sentenced Ms. Garcia to a total of 36 monthsʼ pro- bation; 20 hoursʼ community service work, suspended upon compliance with probation conditions; 48 hoursʼ jail time (credit for time served); and pay fine, fees, and court costs. Other recent court cases of note: Desiree Mae Gross of Leesburg pleaded guilty to interference with cus- tody (reduced to a misdemeanor) for re- moving a child from Coastal Plains Head Start – 12 monthsʼ probation; 40 hoursʼ community service work; pay a total of $1,900 for fine, fees, and court costs; abide by curfew. Amber Collins Youmans of Adel pleaded guilty to theft by taking (three counts) for stealing money from Quick Gas on Old Quitman Road – 12 monthsʼ probation on each count; 160 hoursʼ community service work; must pay fines, fees, and court costs, plus $1,300 total in restitution. Pamela Rebecca Sanchez of Sparks pleaded guilty to shoplifting from Dollar General of Adel – 12 monthsʼ pro- bation; community service work; no fur- ther contact with Dollar General stores; pay fine, fees, and court costs. The case involving Jontavia Re- shad Lucy of Sparks has been trans- ferred from Probate Court to Superior Court. Lucy was arrested March 24 and charged with DUI and obstruction of an officer. During the arrest by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and Adel Police of- ficers, Lucy allegedly resisted arrest and an officer had to Tase him. A clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was found in Lucyʼs underwear. The case involving Ezra M. Liv- ingston of Sylvester has been trans- ferred from Probate Court to Superior Court. Livingston was arrested Feb. 1 and charged with DUI. Livingston al- legedly admitted to a Georgia State Pa- trol trooper that he had been drinking beer and DG Health Green Mint Mouth- wash. Paramedics transported Liv- ingston to Cook Medical Center due to the mouthwash. Livingston refused treatment at the hospital, and he was then taken to the Cook County Jail. Wanikke Baker of Adel paid a bond forfeiture. The defendant had been charged with disorderly conduct and bat- tery.
