GOSPEL REFELCTION John 3: 13-17 God proved His love for us

by giving us the best He had to offer -- His only begotten Son who freely

gave Himself as an offering to God for our sake and as the atoning

sacrifice for our sin and the sins of the world. Not an excluding love for

just a few or for a single nation, but a redemptive love that embraces the

whole world, and a personal love for each and every individual whom

God has created. God is a loving Father who cannot rest until His

wandering children have returned home to Him. Saint Augustine says,

God loves each one of us as if there were only one of us to love. God gives

us the freedom to choose whom and what we will love. Jesus shows us

the paradox of love and judgment. We can love the darkness of sin and

unbelief or we can love the light of God's truth, beauty, and goodness. If

our love is guided by what is true, and good and beautiful then we will

choose God and love Him above all else. What we love shows what we

prefer. Do love God above all else? Does He take first place in your life, in

your thoughts, and actions?

EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS - TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 14th Divine liturgy will be held at

St. Anne Parish @ 9:00 am. & St. Michael Parish @ 7:00 pm. Tomorrow is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross when we honour the Holy Cross by which Christ redeemed the world. By venerating the cross, we venerate Jesus Christ who suffered and died on this Roman instrument of torture for our redemption from sin and death, accomplished our salvation. The Cross was a terrifying symbol in the days of the Romans. It symbolized death and was considered one of the most brutal ways to be killed. However, Jesus’ death transformed the symbol of death and despair into a symbol of hope. On this feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, we should remember the comforting message that death no longer means the end. The Cross is the pathway by which we can have Eternal Life. In this life, we will all have crosses –our own difficulties to bear. There is a saying that if we were all to throw our crosses in one big pile, we would hurriedly take back our own when we saw those of everyone else.

WE ASK ALL PARISHIONERS TO Be sure to continue donating to your parish The parish buildings continue to have expenses such as utilities that need to be looked after especially now that the colder weather is coming. If you are unable to attend church in person donations may be dropped off in the parish mailbox-es. You can also sign up for auto-withdrawal. Please visit the parish websites for how to do that or contact your parish office. You can also send an e-transfer throughout online banking. Simply use the parish email

address as your recipient. We thank you for your continued support.

DE-LITE-SIDE A teacher was giving her students a lesson in logic. “Here is the situation,” she said. “A man is standing up in a boat in the middle of a river, fishing. He loses his balance, falls in, and begins splash-ing and yelling for help. His wife in her riverside house hears the commotion, knows he can’t swim, and runs down to the bank. Why do you think she ran to the bank instead of calling for help?” A girl raised her hand and asked, “To draw out all his savings”!

TAKE NOTE: Beginning Sunday, Sept. 20th, St. Anne Parish will be changing their Divine Liturgy time on Sundays to

10:00 am instead of 9:00 am.
