The average weekly attendance this week is 96.6% Newsletter 5 Autumn 2016 Twitter: @ParkSchoolBPL KS1 & 2 Stars of the Week! 1R - Kelsey for creating a wonderful self-portrait. 1H - Isla for working hard with filling and emptying, and for taking good care of our teddy, Norma, at home. 2H - Louis for confidently starting to repeat lots of words in class. 2ST - Lucius for working hard with his English work this week, and for always being a super star in class. 2N - Jonathan for always following the Golden Rules. 2S - Tyler for correcting his work without getting upset. 2G - Nathan BR for always being such a lovely mature boy. Travelling by Tuba On Wednesday Chris and Stuart from ‘Travelling by Tuba’ performed for the whole school demonstrating instruments from around the world. Band members and Key Stage 2 pupils took part in Samba and Tango workshops during the afternoon. Autumn Fayre Success Thank you to the 300+ people who supported PCA’s Autumn Fayre on Saturday. It was a fantastic day for everyone, and we are delighted that £2070 was raised by ‘Friends of Park Community Academy’ Charitable Trust. A BIG thank you for your support! Key Stage 1 1H have worked hard in Maths this week. Jensen used great describing words for shapes. Jack worked with numbers in the hundreds. Road Safety - We now have a large amount of children and young people walking to school with parents or travelling independently. Please could we remind parents/carers of the two crossings available on Whitegate Drive - the island crossing outside Westbury Sixth Form Centre, and also the pedestrian crossing by the cobblers/key cutting shop. Please could you use these safer crossings to show good practice to our independent travellers and also to demonstrate good practice for your own children. Whitegate Drive is one of the busiest roads in Blackpool and we all need to ensure that we do everything we possibly can to avoid any accidents. We greatly appreciate your support in keeping our children safe.

Key Stage 3 ‘Achiever of the Week’ 3T - Olivia for contributions to the Golden Rules Assembly. 3M - Chloe C for being kind and helpful. 3I - Kelsey for wonderful handwriting in English. 3F - Jake F for excellent behaviour. 3TE - Gabrielle for contributing some fantastic answers during an RE lesson. 3B - Tommy for always being polite and well mannered, and for having an amazing smile to cheer everyone up every day.

Key Stage 4This week in Science, pupils learnt that it is not always healthy to be super skinny. You need to eat a healthy well balanced diet , with everything in moderation! This can be supported by a sensible exercise plan.

Key Stage 22N went on a class walk to St Paul’s Church on Whitegate Drive this week as part of their RE topic. They were learning about different places of worship, and looked very carefully to find all the features of the church. A big thank you to Mother Christine for giving up her time to show us around.

KS4/5 ‘Achiever of the Week’4JA - Reece C for settling in well to his first week at PCA. 4J - Jessica for good work in PE and overall positive attitude towards learning. 4B - Arron for excellent attitude towards his work, and for looking after others.5S - Jack for not giving up when he found things challenging. Well done Jack!5C - Daniel for raising money for charity in a bike ride last Saturday. Well done Dan!

Key Stage 3In their Phonics lessons, 3TE have been making the letters for the sounds they can hear in the days of the week.

Key Stage 5

KS5 have begun researching for their BTEC Sport and Fitness qualification.

They will be looking at different sports, and how to keep fit and healthy in Blackpool.

Fluoridated Milk From the 7th November, Fluoridated Milk will be available for children in Years 1-6. A leaflet has been sent home for further details. If you want your child to opt out please return the form to school on Monday 10th October.
