Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin

Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is a narrow-molecular-weight-distribution, aliphatic hydrocarbon resin designed for theadhesives industry. Its polymerisation process closely resembles that used by Eastman for the production of Piccotac 1095

Resin and the resin grades therefore show very similar physical and applicational properties.

STABILIZERPiccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is stabilized with: tetrakis [methylene (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate)]methane antioxidant.

OUTSTANDING CHARACTERISTICSCompatible at all ratios, or in limited but practically useful proportions, with natural and synthetic rubbers, EVA (ethylene-vinylacetate) copolymers, SIS (styrene-isoprene-styrene) block copolymers, low molecular weight polyethylene, paraffin andmicrocrystalline waxes.

Soluble at all useful proportions in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters and ethers. Insoluble in alcohols,glycols and water.

REGULATORY STATUSPiccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is in compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration foruse in food packaging and food processing operations as specified in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, under thefollowing sections and subject to the provisions therein:

Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is in compliance with the requirements of the Bundesinstitut fr Risiko- bewertung(BfR) of the Federal Republic of Germany for use in food packaging and food processing operations as specified in the BfRRecommendations, under the following chapters and subject to the provisions therein:

Chapter XXV Paraffin and microcrystalline waxes and blends of these with waxes, resins and polymers

In some European countries, Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is permitted for use as a component in several food-contact applications. Because of the variation in legislation from country to country, detailed listings have not been included inthis datasheet. Specific information may be obtained by consulting the regulations themselves. Eastman will be pleased toprovide further information if required.

Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is in compliance with the requirements of the European Toy Safety Legislation88/378/EEC, European Standard CEN EN 71, Part 3: migration of certain elements.

All components used for the production of Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin are listed in the European Inventory ofExisting Commercial Chemical Substances (EINECS).

PACKAGING AND SUPPLYPiccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin is pastillated and packed in polyethylene bags of 20 kg net, and supplied on shrink-wrapped pallets of 50 bags (1000 kg) each, from Eastman's facilities in The Netherlands and from warehouses located inEurope.

STORAGE AND INVENTORY CONTROLFlaked and pastillated forms of resins may fuse, block or lump under any of the following conditions: (1) in hot weatherclimates, (2) if stored near steam pipes or other sources of heat and (3) upon prolonged storage.Storage at temperatures above 30 C should be avoided. Inside storage in a temperature-controlled area is necessary in orderto prevent problems, such as lumping. Due to the nature of the product, claims regarding lumping cannot be accepted.

Resins are prone to gradual oxidation, some more so than others. This could result in darkening and/or it could have anadverse effect on the solubility of the resin in organic solvents or on its compatibility with polymers. Accordingly, it isrecommended that strict control of inventory be observed at all times, taking care that the oldest material is used first.

Piccotac 1095-N Hydrocarbon Resin material will remain within product specification limits, as mentioned under the heading"Product Specifications", for a period of at least twelve months after shipment from Eastman's production facilities in TheNetherlands, provided storage conditions outlined in this data sheet are observed.

However, as we can neither anticipate the conditions under which the resin is processed nor the end use applications for whichit is used, we recommend that the material be tested upon receipt.
