Plugging and abandonment - operational challenge


■ Many current jobs performed using drilling rigs

■ For platforms without drilling equipment in place, tubing retrieval towers

represents lighter alternative

■ Depending on the operational scope, P&A is still characterised by

operational and logistical complexity ■ e.g. plugging & abandonment on platforms with no drilling equipment and where

the job require fixing of poor annulus cement

Summary


■ P&A as a stand-alone market segment is rapidly emerging

■ As of current, most of the relevant down hole activities are conducted using

drilling rigs

■ For old platforms where the drilling equipment has been removed, tubing

retrieval towers represents a lighter alternative to rig mobilisation

■ Current methods represent relatively high cost as well as operational and

logistical challenges

■ An optimisation potential is envisaged
