While in Mexico I realized this project is a big deal. The

story ran in 3 local newspapers the next day.

Our field trips began immediately after the press conference. We started near the head waters of the Tecolutla, and followed it to the Gulf. We were looking for ideal and suitable monitoring sites. We did this for each river, Tecolutla, Cazones, and Tuxpan.

We met with the Mayor of this mountain village. He said 17,000 people lived here.
