Large rock through a front window.

Several Officers were dispatched to the 21000 Block of W Nine Mile Rd. (Market) for a glass break and entry motion alarm. Officers arrived on scene and discovered good B&E. A large rock had been thrown through a front window to business. The owner arrived on scene a short time later and advises that some boxes of cigarettes were taken. Surveillance video was dropped off at the front desk. No info from video at time of this report. Note: This same business had an attached storage room broken into, and the business next door was broken into last week. The owner also states that there have been some suspicious persons hanging around the business in the early morning hours when they open and there have been suspicious vehicles in the rear parking lot up against the wall. One of the vehicles was a red vehicle with a black hood.

The wood on the door frame that secures the dead bolt on the door frame was separated from the door frame.

On 09/21/2020 at 8:45pm, Officers were dispatched to the 28000 Block of Lockdale St. An anonymous caller reported seeing a male attempting to break into an unknown unit on level 2 of the apartment building. Officers arrived on scene and located female victim. Victim states she broke up with her husband and was staying at her grandmothers. Her husband came to her grandmother’s apartment and attempted to force entry into the apartment. Entry wasn’t gained and the suspect left the area prior to Officers arrival. The suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

No obvious signs of forced entry but the lock is such that it could easily be compromised w/o damaging it.

Victim states he left his apartment on 09/25/2020 at 12:00am. Upon his return on 09/27/2020 he discovered his bedroom closet door was open, the cabinet with his money and family heirloom (bible) was opened and items were missing. R/P also stated numerous pieces of clothing from the same closet and the closet in the spare bedroom were missing. R/P suspects person that he has allowed to live with him while he gets his life together. R/P and suspect have had 2 previous incidents recently that were reported to the Police. Officers responded to Motel in the 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. to meet with a male caller whose vehicle was stolen at Market Store, located in the 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. The vehicle was taken in the last several minutes and the caller believed the female who took the vehicle may be headed back to the Motel. Officers responded to the Motel and did an area check. The vehicle was not located. Victim states he met the female at a liquor store in Detroit. They got a room at the Motel and planned to stay there for the night. Victim and suspect drove across the street to the Market Store to get some things for the night. Victim left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition. When victim came back out to his vehicle, it was gone and so was the female suspect. Victim states he only knew the suspect as most likely an alias name, B/F, 22-25 years old, 5’-2” to 5’-5”. Victim states when the vehicle was taken there was a money order, cash, an iPhone 7, Android phone, and a credit card in the vehicle. Officers confirmed incident after observing surveillance video from the Market Store.

Representative from dealership advises a Dodge Durango was stolen on 09/23/2020 around 3:37pm. The Durango was parked in the Service Department waiting to be worked on. Surveillance video shows a male subject got into the vehicle and drove off, unbeknownst to Dealership Staff. The key was in the vehicle. The suspect was described as a B/M, in his 40s, about 6’-0”, medium to heavy build. He was wearing what appeared to be a white T-shirt and cargo shorts. On 09/25/2020, staff discovered the vehicle was missing. Staff located the vehicle due to a tracking system installed in the Durango. The vehicle plotted at a residence in Detroit. Representative from dealership proceeded to the address and located the vehicle in the driveway, unoccupied. With the spare key, R/P got into the vehicle and drove it back to the Dealership. (Vehicle was Recovered) Note: There was property left in the vehicle most likely by the suspect. All the items were collected as evidence.

Improper plate on vehicle (DMM5029). Registered plate on vehicle not recovered. Vehicle Impounded by Ross Towing

Officer was dispatched to the 25000 Block of W 12 Mile Rd. for a UDAA Report. R/P states he and his girlfriend arrived home and parked the vehicle in front of their apartment building, East side of the parking lot, at approx. 9:00pm on 09/24/2020 and put his car cover on the vehicle. The following morning at approx. 10:40am, R/P went out to the parking lot and noticed his vehicle was missing with the car cover lying next to the parking spot. Victim stated that his handgun was also in the vehicle when it was taken. Victim suspects his brother may be responsible for the theft. Note: A neighboring jurisdiction spotted the stolen vehicle near I-96 and Lasher and conducted surveillance on the vehicle until Southfield TCSU Officers could make the location. Southfield TCSU Officers made the location and followed the stolen vehicle to a business in the City of Detroit. As vehicle pulled into the location. Officers blocked the vehicle in and stopped the vehicle w/o incident. The Driver and one passenger were detained while Officers investigated further. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a handgun on the driver’s floor board. (Later identified as Victims Handgun) The vehicles driver side rear passenger window was broken out, a key had been reprogrammed

which was located on victim’s brother and the plate that was supposed to be on the vehicle was replaced. The victims original license plate was not recovered. The driver of the stolen vehicle, victims brother was taken into custody for R&C Stolen Vehicle. The passenger was released at the scene.

Victim states that her on again, off again boyfriend took off with her car after she told him he couldn’t take it. Her boyfriend used the ruse that he needed to get something out of the car. When victim gave him the keys he never returned to victim’s apartment and when she looked outside the vehicle and suspect were gone. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

R/P states that she was hired to work a construction project at residence located in the 30000 Block of Northgate Drive. R/P hired two subjects to work on the project. R/P states on 09/24/2020 at 8:00am she returned to the job site and noticed several construction tools were missing. R/P states that the two subjects she hired told another employee that R/P was allowing them to close the home. R/P never gave the subjects permission to close the home or take any of the items. R/P tried to contact the suspects. The two brothers have not returned to work. Incident is under investigation.

Victim states he made a purchase at the Party Store in the 19000 Block of W. Ten Mile Rd. and accidently left his wallet on the counter. Victim returned to the store, but someone had already stolen his wallet. A store clerk reviewed surveillance video and advised it was a B/M who entered the store and took the wallet. The subject picked the wallet up and placed it into his pocket. Incident is under investigation.

At 9:33pm, DPD advised Southfield Police Department that they had received a report of a Carjacking that occurred in Southfield in the 20000 Block of Eight Mile Rd. (Parking lot.) DPD was out with the victim. The car taken was a Ford Fusion and was involved in an accident in Detroit. The vehicle had crashed into a neighbor’s truck. Surveillance video from the owner of the trucks residence showed two unknowns suspects running from the stolen vehicle. Southfield Officers located the victim and interviewed her. The victim states she entered her vehicle and when she looked over to the passenger side of her vehicle, one of the suspects opened her passenger door and told her to give him everything. Victim attempted to grab her purse to exit her vehicle and told the suspect, "You can just take the car." At that time, the second suspect approached the driver side door, hit her with the barrel of a handgun near her left eye, pointed it to her head and told her” Give me the car” Victim grabbed her phone and concealed it under her arm and exited the vehicle. The suspects then entered her vehicle and fled W/B on Eight Mile Rd. Victim was never able to get her purse out her vehicle. It was recovered in the stolen vehicle minus her wallet. Victim’s wallet contained cash, social security

card, Michigan ID, and 2 debit cards was not recovered. Suspect Descriptions: 2 B/M’s in their early 20's. Suspect# 1: Thin build, about 6'2", 200 LBS, LSW a blue/gray North Face jacket, black pants, black shoes, and a face covering. Suspect# 2: Thin build, about 5'8"-5'9", 180 LBS, LSW a gray sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and wearing a face covering.

Be on the Look Out Highlights: Arrests by SPD Officers:

Special Attention: Graffiti was Painted on wall adjacent to the Southfield Police Lobby. 09/27/2020 9:48am 26000 Evergreen Rd. (Outside adjacent to Police Lobby) On 9/27/2020 a Southfield Police Evidence Technician was dispatched to MDOP, graffiti spray painted on the N/E wall just east of the North lobby entrance for the Southfield PD front desk. Suspect also spray painted the security camera face (S/E) corner of PD with the same paint. Officer recovered a spray paint can that is believed to be the one used by suspect from scene. The graffiti was written in code and It’s believed the meaning is "All cops are bastards" and " Justice for Breonna Taylor". Specialist Cazan photographed the damage and submitted the spray paint can to the Lab for analysis.

Domestic Felonious Assault- 1- Arrest 09/23/2020 3:40am 26000 Block of Telegraph Rd. (Hotel) On 09/23/2020 at 3:40am several Officers were dispatched to the 26000 Block of Telegraph Rd. (Hotel) reference a Domestic Assault, possibly a knife involved. Officers located the parties involved including the females 5- year-old son. Victim states she was driving from a friend’s house to Hotel in Southfield. Her boyfriend was intoxicated and making threats to kill everyone. He pulled out a folding knife and started waving it around R/P’s face. At one point, he put the point of the knife up against R/P’s neck and threatened to kill her. He also punched R/P in face one time causing an injury. The male half of this incident was taken into custody for Domestic F/A. He admitted to having a folding knife in the pouch of his hoodie. Officers located the knife and confiscated as evidence. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician took photos of Females injury.

Special Attention: Death Investigation From: 09/23/2020 9:38am To: 09/23/2020 11:47am 27000 Block of Northwestern (Hotel) Officers responded to the 27000 Block of Northwestern Hwy. (Hotel) on an unresponsive female. Paramedics attempted Narcan and CPR to revive the victim. The female victim remained unresponsive and was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and Detectives and the Oakland County Medical Examiner also responded to the scene. Investigation is on-going.

CSC- 1st Degree- 1- Arrest 09/23/2020 5:57am 27000 Block of Shiawassee Rd. (Private Residence) On 09/23/2020 at 5:57am Officers were dispatched to the 27000 Block of Shiawassee Rd. reference a CSC involving a 12- year-old girl. Dispatch received a call from R/P who resides in the 27000 Block of Shiawassee. R/P advised dispatch that a 12-year-old female and 6-year-old female showed up on his doorstep. The 12-year-old female got on the phone with Southfield Dispatch and reported that she was raped. Victim told Southfield Police Dispatch that her mom’s boyfriend raped her. Victim gave the suspects name and stated that her mother left them with her boyfriend. The suspect told victim he would kill her if she told anyone. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate the suspect or the girl’s mother. Officers contacted the girl’s father & Child Protective Services. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the Crime Scene and collected numerous items of evidence. Southfield Detectives responded to the scene as well. A search warrant was obtained for the residence. The suspect was identified and TCSU Officers conducted surveillance throughout the day on various addresses looking for the suspect. The suspect’s vehicle was located at a Hotel in Dearborn. The vehicle became occupied by suspect and an unknown female. As the suspect was leaving the Hotel lot, TCSU Officers activated their emergency lights, boxed the vehicle in and stopped the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody w/o incident. Officers located a handgun in the front right portion of suspects waste band. Officers removed the handgun and confiscated it as evidence. The suspect did not return with a valid CPL & the handgun was

Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Disorderly Conduct- 1- Arrest 09/27/2020 1:58am 26000 Central Park Blvd. (Hotel) On 09/27/2020, Southfield Police Officers were dispatched to Hotel in the 26000 Block of Central Park Blvd. for several persons fighting. Upon arrival, Officers met with security and two females that security wanted evicted. The females stated they had a few items they needed to collect. As officers were facilitating the females collecting their items and evicting the room, a third female exited the room. Officers advised this female to not say anything to the other females. The third female immediately started yelling at the females. Officers guided this female away from the females and advised her if she did not stop yelling and creating a disturbance she would be arrested for Disorderly Person. The female continued to yell and began to flail her arms. While she was flailing her arms, she hit one of the Officers left upper arm multiple times. The female was taken into custody for Disorderly Person.

Accident/ Fail to stop & Identify/ Dangerous Drugs- 1- Arrest 09/25/2020 9:31am Telegraph Rd. & Franklin Rd. Officer was dispatched to a hit and run accident at Franklin Rd. and Telegraph Rd. A vehicle suspected in fleeing the accident was described a smaller U-Haul Pick-Up Truck with damage from the accident and striking a curb. Officer located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot in the 24000 Block of Telegraph Rd. A W/M was observed attempting to exit the vehicle. Officer gave the subject verbal commands to exit the vehicle and lay on the ground. He complied and was handcuffed and detained while Officers investigated further. The subject was taken into custody for Leaving the Scene of Accident and Possession of Prescription Drug w/o prescription.

MDOP/ R&O/ A&B/ MDOP Police Property- 1- Arrest 09/26/2020 5:10am 16000 Block of Oxley Rd. (Apartments) Officers were dispatched to a Domestic Assault. The male half, later identified, left the scene prior to Officers' arrival. Additional units were sent to the area because the suspect was supposed to be armed with a knife. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the female R/P. She stated that her boyfriend was upset with her and when she got home he told her to pack up her things and get out. He then started to throw things at her and damaged several items including puncturing all her tires on her car. He then assaulted her numerous times. Victim eventually ran outside and her boyfriend chased after her. He caught up to her and began dragging her back to the apartment by her hair. They ended up back in the apartment where suspect began assaulting her again. Victim was eventually let go and she went to a neighbor’s and called Police. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician arrived on scene and took photos of victim’s injuries and damages. A short time later Southfield Officer observed a male matching the description of suspect run north across Nine Mile. Officer activated his emergency overhead lights, exited his scout car, identified himself as a police officer, and ordered suspect to stop. The suspect fled on foot north through the parking lot at 16000 Providence. Officer pursued suspect through the parking lot, continuing to give him instructions to stop. The suspect continued to flee across Providence Dr. until a second Officer blocked his escape route and he was taken into custody for Domestic Assault and R&O. While in the back seat of Officers patrol vehicle the suspect started throwing up. He was removed from the patrol vehicle and

unhandcuffed and put onto his side. Officers checked for a pulse and there was none. Officer began CPR and the suspect began to breathe again. Shortly after this the subject stopped breathing again. Officer began CPR again. After several compression’s the subject started breathing again. A Southfield FD Life Unit arrived on scene and transported the suspect to Providence Hospital for treatment. At the hospital suspect became combative and had to be four pointed by hospital security. The suspect was eventually cleared from the hospital and transported to the Southfield Jail. During the transport to the jail the suspect damaged the Patrol Vehicle by kicking the inside of the door panel. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician took photos of the damage to the patrol vehicle.
