Dear Friend of Wildlands,

At 93,000 acres, Wind Wolves Preserve (WWP) is one of the crown jewels in The Wildlands Conservancy's (TWC) preserve system. Located just south of Bakersfield, at the southernmost end of California's Great Central Valley, WWP is the largest privately owned nature preserve in the Western United States.

This preserve, the core of which is the historic San Emigdio land grant, was the northern boundary of the coastal Chumash Native Americans, and remains home to a broad range of plant and animal communities. It serves as a critical link and wildlife corridor between five distinct geographical regions: the Pacific Coast Ranges, San Joaquin Valley, Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, Western Mojave Desert and the Transverse Ranges. Equally important, TWC offers public access and free nature programs to this extraordinary gem representing Old California. Over 60,000 visitors experienced Wind Wolves Preserve last year, and nearly 10,000 students from diverse backgrounds attended our free outdoor education programs.

This year, as part of a broader invitation to the community, we will host our 6th Annual Spring Nature Festival on March 16th & 17th, 2019. The festival gives all the chance to witness the beauty of spring, and explore the landscape after winter rains. People of all ages will enjoy exhibits, hikes and expert-guided programs. Birding activities, wildflower walks, a Native American rock art VR experience, and an outdoor movie viewing are just a few adventures that visitors will choose from during this two-day event.

These offerings made possible with the gracious philanthropy of generous donors. We are asking you and your organization to consider sponsorship. Please find additional materials enclosed, and thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Landon Peppel Northern California Conservation Director, The Wildlands Conservancy
