Automation faithfully reproduces test proceduresOnce you start to repeat the same measurement procedure, you want to be sure that each acquisition is comparable. Same for parameters’ extractions such as orders or RMS power in specific band when you are comparing different run-ups of an engine. Macros and acquisition sequencer let you automate these repetitive tasks with perfect reproduction.

- Macros: Simply records your actions and then inserts algorithmic controls with the graphics editor.

- Sequencer: Write the list of setting to be updated at each acquisition (ex. node number) into a spread sheet. Then let the analyzer follow this road map, faithfully reproducing your sequence.

- Setup recall: All results are saved with the corresponding analyzer setup. It is then easy to reload exactly the same measurement settings for a new acquisition.

FFTThe FFT plug-in provides high-performance analysis for general purpose vibration measurement plus other dedicated modes. This software option offers a large set of results (up to 42) featured by the multiple available modes.- FRF acquisition : With its dedicated structural mode, the FFT plug-in features state-of-the-art FRF acquisition and analysis tools. During the acquisition you can preview coherences and averaged results to ensure measurement quality. - Synchronous Time Averaging (STA) reveals anomalies buried into noisy signals coming from rotating machinery. STA can also automatically synchronize the phase from spectral information.- Diagnostics : Envelope demodulation, Cepstrum, Kurtosis as well as the latest shaft view will let you easily find the source of a problem. The FFTDiag add-on offers a consistent tool set for on-site diagnostics of industrial machines.

Order AnalysisOrder analysis and tracking techniques are essential in measurements with varying rotating speeds. Getting correct results from run-up/down requires specific signal processing techniques. The NVGate® waterfall engine gathers the results of any plug-in, such as FFT or Synchronized Order Analysis (SOA), in a large, 3D dataset. The section manager features order cuts in the 3D space. It offers flexible cursors and investigation tools like the max order search. The Synchronized Order Analysis (SOA) plug-in harnesses the DSP powered OROS 3-Series analyzers to provide true order analysis. Signals are resampled with a dedicated tachometer input to be converted to the order domain. Then the plug-in extracts complex orders (phase and amplitude) from fast run-ups and or coast-downs.

Overall acoustic level meterWith an OROS 3-Series you get a multi-channel analyzer, so, why not turn your unit into a true multi-channel sound level meter. The OVA plug-in complies with the latest sound level meters standards such as IEC 60-672. It runs 3 RMS and a peak detector on each input. The detectors feature time filtering and weighting. Overall levels can be tracked during days in the profiles memory.

Time Domain Analysis (TDA)The Time Domain Analysis plug-in provides visualization and statistical analysis of signals in the time domain, featuring oscilloscope-like displays. This plug-in is useful for long duration signal monitoring and trend analysis on its statistical content. The variable time bases are ideal for continuous trend analysis like large structure damping control as well as rotating machinery coast down monitoring.

Rotation measurementCrankshaft, transmission axes, belts, gear boxes and machinery shaft speed must be measured carefully in order to resolve the right order or torsional analysis on it. The OROS 3-Series analyzers are experts for such measurements featuring the best tachometer acquisition set. First, the quality of shaft speed determination is ensured with the 2 oversampled tach inputs (< 152 ns resolution) included in each analyzer. Then RPM speed can be treated depending on the situation.

The fractional tachometer computes the speed and phase of the output shaft of a gear’s line based on the input one.

The simulated one provides a user defined speed when it is impossible to get one from the machinery. Allowing order analysis in this case.The combined one computes, in real-time, 2 different tachs with your own formula, providing the speed of a CVT belt from the pulley speed.

For torsional vibration and acyclic rotating analyses, OROS 3-Series analyzers integrate frequency to voltage converters for each tachometer input. With its integrator filter and a smoother, it delivers direct angular information to any plug-in.

As well as all others function of OROS analyzers these advanced tachometer measurement tools operates in both real-time and post-processing.

Analysis ModesFFT, Order, Acoustics, DiagnosticsSoftware :

Software options come as modules in the NVGate® Analyzer setting browser (ASB). These modules, called Plug-ins integrate all the specific analysis functions with their settings. Functions and settings are organized in a logical way and spread on a maximum of 3 levels. The access to the plug-in setup is the always the same structure for each plug-in. General purpose plug-ins such as recorder, player, monitor and waterfall are standard.

1/n OctaveAcoustic signature and investigation require the appropriate analysis methods. The 1/n Octave plug-in computes levels from constant percentage band filtering, complying with IEC 1260 standard. Every parameter can be adjusted making a highly flexible acoustic analyzer. All channels can be analyzed real-time by the DSPs up to 20 kHz.

1/n OCT main features:- 1, 1/3rd, 1/12th, 1/24th octave- Complies with IEC 1260 and IEC 804- Fast, slow, impulse time filtering

The setup of SOA does not require an expert user. You will get the right results immediately. Gearboxes generate modulated and difficult to discern vibration orders, which are not easy to extract. The Constant Band order Tracking (CBT) helps engineers acquire those orders with the appropriate band pass extraction.

Parametric inputsWhen static parameters such as temperature or drive current interact with the measured dynamic data, it is convenient to acquire these low frequency signals with the same instrument. The Parametric input upgrades the OROS 3-Series analyzers featuring accurate and reproducible DC measurements on auxiliary channels.With 50 Hz/60 Hz rejection 16 bits ADC and less than 6 µV offset drift, these inputs offer stable and adapted acquisitions.

HardwareExpanding the capabilities and portability of the OROS 3-Series analyzers is easy with the standard or optional hardware.

Waterfall : a synchronized data buffer that offers comprehensive results explorationAcquire, analyze, all of these deliver quasi-instantaneous or averaging smoothed results. Getting the evolution of a phenomenon with these techniques requires long and repetitive procedures. The waterfall plug-in of NVGate® adds a new dimension to your results view point.

This specific plug-in is able to collect and to synchronize all data coming from the plug-in analyzers in a stack. Results are arranged regarding the different references (RPM, Time, and levels) and represented in 3D or profiles views. Fluid and extremely fast 3D representation offers multiple points of view for your data handling.

Synchronizing multi-analysis results offers great advantages. Identifying the critical point is then much easier having its effect on different modes such as order, structural resonance and acoustics. In the same way, working on this data space allows unpredictable and fine extractions of slices. The section manager of the waterfall plug-in feature orders, overall, constant frequencies and spectra extraction in one click.

The waterfall plug-in is also a deep profile manager; it can store up to 100,000 points per channel. Overall acoustic level, RPM or even temperature evolution is then shown clearly. Most of these profiles can be used as the reference axis for 2D and 3D displays. What is more clear than an acceleration spectrum evolution vs torque to interpret their interaction inside a transmission?

Recorder : Recording raw signals is the best way to keep a comprehensive trace of a measurement. OROS 3-Series offer as standard a recorder and a player plug-ins that provides flexible recording services. As the recording function is integrated, operations are greatly simplified. Whatever the analysis mode used, recording functionalities are easy to achieve. Backup of a real-time analysis like tests are now a straightforward possibility. Using the advanced triggering toolset, the recorder can reject unwanted upstream data.

The player is useful for time domain data manipulation and re-recording of file segments. File playback of a recorded signal allows listening of filtered and weighted noise. Associated with a shaker, this function is also a way to reproduce, in the lab, motions recorded in the field.

Carrying caseThe OROS 3-Series analyzers are mobile instruments. Each analyzer comes with a bag which carries the analyzer and all the accessories. And they comply with aircraft carry-on size restrictions.

Additional batteryOROS analyzers always integrate batteries (NiMh) as standard, providing autonomy and un-interruptible measurements. Additional batteries expand the autonomy of the instrument. These external batteries basically double the analyzer autonomy, and the hot swap capability allows for very long battery powered operations. The battery option is delivered with a battery charger, holder and fixing kit.

Mobi-DiskTM

OR36, OR38 and Mobi-PackTM are offered with a personal removable disk allowing useful sharing of your instrument within a team. OROS offers additional personal disks that widen the availability of your analyzer. Each user’s measured data can stay with him and let the team have the instrument for other uses.

Trigger and generators OROS analyzers come with standard triggers and generators that handle most measurement situations. For advanced use, auxiliary trigger or generators can be added to the instruments as options. Up to 6 generators for multiple shaker excitation (MiMo) or 6 triggers for simultaneous analysis of the numerous rolls of a paper mill are then accessible with a simple portable unit.
