Here is the still shot I chose to use as the main image for my film poster. Initially, it was a landscape mid shot however after editing and experimenting with some different effects and ways of positioning the image I made it into a portrait reflection. I did this because I felt it added a sense of complexity to the image and developed the mystery behind it. Although quite a simple shot it still manages to successfully set a scene as well as encourage particular thoughts – for example; is this place important to the character? Why? Etc. The high key lighting ensures a clear and defined image whilst accurately represents the time of day and possible season/time of year that this was taken.

After experimenting with multiple fonts and asking for people’s opinions I found that this ‘Jenna Sue’ style that I developed from the Font squirrel website suited the title for my film poster. I have positioned the title in the centre of the poster slightly to the left of the protagonist himself. This indicates that this could be the character’s name, additionally how he is a significant character and his importance. The handwritten font of the title makes it seem more personal and encourages a reader and writer relationship.

Here I have added the basic institutional information at the bottom of the film poster. As well as the actors and actresses names at the top of the film poster. The institutional information includes data on the directors, editors (etc.) As well as the dedicated website. Providing a dedicated website of the production company gives a professional impression. At this point I also added to the institutional information. I added logo’s and dates to make it seem more realistic and professional. I got the idea for doing this from researching into different film posters and looking at what they included within the small print

phrases to add a sense of realism and professionalism to the film poster. Hence the realistic comments stated on the poster provide the audience with a small insight into what the films like in terms of its impression when watching and therefore makes it reliable as it has been

looked out of place and as though edited and designed

On the final poster, I have incorporated all of the general conventions used on a film poster – institutional information, star ratings, actors and actresses names, title, ta line and a date of release; in order to make it appear as professional and realistic as possible. I used Photoshop to blend the line that originally went down the middle of the image, so that it didn’t interrupt the picture almost. And thus have no harsh lines within the image. The look I have tried to emulate is as though a British traditional short film, and by incorporating the British countryside as the location within the image, it does this.
