Description This OS unit is about conducting different surveys, managing data and arranging the same in terms of detailed project report of the watershed

Scope

This unit/task covers the following:

Conduct primary socio-technical assessment of the watershed

Lead the watershed planning exercises and compile the data to finalize the DPR

Performance Criteria(PC) w.r.t. the Scope

Element Performance Criteria

Conduct primary socio-technical assessment of the watershed

To be competent, the individual must be able to: PC1. carry out the demarcation of the watershed on the revenue map and topo sheet

with the help of watershed engineer PC2. conduct the reconnaissance survey of the watershed to fix the watershed

boundary along with watershed engineer and community mobilizer PC3. appraise the technical and the social feasibility of the watershed based on

feedback from engineer and mobilizer and meetings with key leaders of the community and the secondary data

PC4. provide information on watershed project processes, disciplines and impacts to the community along with community mobilizer, such as:

project phases such as entry point, capacity building, full implementation, consolidation, etc.

project processes such as net planning, implementation, measurements, payment, monitoring, funding, etc.

community institutions such as watershed committee, self-help groups, user groups, etc.

social disciplines such as shramdan, ban on free grazing and tree felling

possible impacts on water, food, fodder, vegetation, income, etc. PC5. prepare and submit the PIA data sheet and watershed data sheet or preliminary

project report in format prescribed by the funding agency PC6. follow up with funding agency on approval of watershed project and comply to

the queries, if any, raised by the agency

Lead the watershed planning exercises and compile the data to finalize the DPR

Description This OS unit is about leading and monitoring implementation process of the watershed interventions by planning and allocating the resources and time

Scope

This unit/task covers the following:

Prepare the implementation plan for technical and social interventions

Organize and allocate the human, material, financial and institutional resources for execution of activities

Monitor the watershed activities for their efficient and effective execution and sustenance in post-project period

Performance Criteria(PC) w.r.t. the Scope

Prepare the implementation plan for technical and social interventions

To be competent, the individual must be able to: PC1. assess the availability of resources such as labour, farmers and their

willingness to work and contribute in the watershed community PC2. appraise the work phasing and funding pattern based on approved DPR and

fund release system of the funding agency PC3. assess the seasonality at community level in terms of work habits, festivals,

ceremonies and other cultural traits as well as capabilities of village institutions

PC4. steer and guide the team members and community institutions to prepare the implementation plan for each year, quarter and month

Organize and allocate the human, material, financial and institutional resources for execution of activities

To be competent, the individual must be able to: PC5. allocate the specific tasks as per plan to the technical and social experts PC6. support the community institutions to select and appoint the villager level

workers like watershed supervisors, assistants and water technicians PC7. expedite the procedures to procure required material for watershed

implementation for PIA as well as for the community institutions PC8. support the team members and community institutions during the execution

of the planned activities and ensure they are being carried out in a safe and efficient manner

PC9. ensure sufficient and timely flow of funds from the funding agency to the watershed committee and finally to the labour, workers, farmers, etc.

PC10. provide institutional support and backup to the field team and the watershed committee in execution and management of the project

Monitor the watershed activities for their efficient and effective execution and sustenance in post-project period

the defined objectives, such as:

review and approve the planned work, approved budget, funds available, work phasing and material required for the upcoming work
