Question 1- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real life media products? My rock magazine is very similar to a rock magazine you would find in a supermarket for instance, such as Kerrang! And NME, however some sections of my magazine are slightly different. For example, my masthead on the front cover is bold and eye catching to show its importance, however like Kerrang! My dominant image of my main artist is in front of the masthead to show that really they are more important than the magazine itself. On my front cover I only have one plug to catch my readers attention and this involves giving away posters for my readers that are linked to the genre of the magazine and style of music mentioned throughout the magazine, I only added one because I didn’t want my front cover to be overrun by plugs and I would prefer my target audience to concentrate more on my artists and bands than solely on the competitions. I chose to have my double page spread article in three single columns so it is easy for my reader to follow and understand without becoming bored or uninterested. This is to show my readers it is a rock magazine. Like all magazines I have included important information on every page for instance, the date, and the issue number. This is to ensure my readers know which edition they are reading in case they missed one or want to make sure they don’t miss a new edition.
