Evaluation:How does your media product

represent particular social groups?

Page 2: Question 2, 4 and 5

Who it would represent My magazine would represent teenagers and post-

teens that label themselves “indie” It would represent these people due to the fact that

they will find the music they like in the magazine, and the same kind of lifestyle as them, for example it may have small articles relating to certain clothing stores they would shop in, such as Topman, or through the social lives that kind of people would lead.

Page 3: Question 2, 4 and 5

How do I represent these? I represent these people through the pictures I have

used for my magazine. I made my models dress in the stereo-typical indie fashion, so that the readers will look at the front cover and see a person that relates to the readers.

I also represent the Indie lifestyle through the use of bands or artists that they are interested it, such as The Vaccines, or Jack Penate.

Another way in which I do this, is through the use of Local indie bands that they may be interested in going to see.

Who would be the audience for your media

product?Question 4

Page 5: Question 2, 4 and 5

A typical consumer of my magazine would...

Be in early teens-post teens. The gender would be predominantly male, but some female. They would be interested in indie-rock music, or indie music in general,

such as ‘The Strokes’ or ‘The Libertines’ Other media products they would consume would be television

programs such as ‘Skins’. They would probably use social networking sites such as Facebook. Most of them would probably spend a lot of their time listening to music. A lot of them would play their own music either in bands or on their own. They would probably shop in shops such as Topman, or H&M etc. They would consume brands such as Jack Wills, Hollister etc. They would probably be in full time education. They may have part time jobs, therefore wouldn’t have much money

spare. They would probably still be living with their parents.

How did you attract/address your

audience?Question 5

Page 7: Question 2, 4 and 5

Attraction For my typical consumer, I placed a photo on

the front of the magazine that they would relate to, through the clothing, hair style etc.

I also put popular band names on the front of the magazine that the typical consumer would be able to relate to.

I also used plugs and pulls such as Free EP’s and competitions that would attract the audience.

I used easy colours such as red and blue that would attract the audience.

Page 8: Question 2, 4 and 5

Address In the competitions, I addressed the

audience by saying “Win a free guitar” This addressed the audience.

I went against conventions with the picture, and had the model looking away from the camera, rather than at the audience. I believed that this gave the picture more attitude which would relate to the typical consumer.
