Question 3WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?

Treatment Feedback

Page 3: Question 3

The treatment pitch was done to outline our initial plans and the ideas in terms of location, costume, theme/motifs, possible distribution methods and target audience. We really wanted to create a gospel music that went against the stereotypes of gospel music, and my case studies really helped to shape

creative/original ideas. The feedback we received were from individuals our class, who were in the same age category as our target audience. During this pitch, we were stuck

between two gospel songs, as we liked both of them, so we had to seek advice and suggestions from the members of our target audience, as they are the end users. From the feedback we received, we decided to select the song ‘A little

Love’ by Guvna b, instead of, ‘Save Me’ by Derek Minor. This decision was made by the members of our target audience, as they believed the lyrics of ‘Save Me’ were hard to understand, and it did not support the image that we were trying

to represent effectively. Whereas, ‘A Little Love’ had a positive youth vibe and a sound that is really popular in todays music. All the feedback given was very positive and constructive, allowing us to have a clearer vision for our project.

This feedback session really allowed me the importance of getting insight from our end users, as they really have the final say, due to the fact that they would

have to like the product in order to purchase it.

Rough Copy Feedback

At this stage of the project, we have completed most of our editing and just needed to add in a couple more shots and perfected the lip syncing.

The target audience members in my class were very aware of our genre and what Gifty and I planned to carry out, so their feedback was very vital at this stage as they

could inform us if we went off the track we initially was set on.From the feedback, we gathered that we successfully captured the vibe and the themes in this song. We were also successful at adding subtle religious motifs.

However, we needed to tighten up the lip sync on the video, as it looks unprofessional. Also, we were told to make sure we included more shots of the

featured artist, instead of using many features. They also stated that the energy of the performance in the video brought the music

video to life, making the themes very evident. We took on this feedback by getting our featured artist into the photography studio to do some more filming for the music video. We also spent more time trying to tighten

our lip sync to the track.

Print Products (Ideas) Feedback

Page 7: Question 3

I have used PowerPoint to present my mock-up layouts, fonts, images and house styles to my class members who are in the same age group as my target

audience. During our video shoot we took some images at each location making this process quite easy; but I still wanted to take some more shots in the studio to

have more options for my print products. For our pitch, we decided to use images that inspired our ideas, so that the target

audience can get an idea of what we meant by our ideas. Overall, we received positive feedback from our target audience, however, it was brought up that my

collage idea was a bit ambitious for the front cover as it was going to be time consuming and it is not typical for album covers. I then decided to not to place

this collage idea on my front cover, but on my CD to still include this creative idea. For my print products, I felt with the shots taken at the various location, combined

with my studio shots clashed. So I adapted my initial ideas, and referred to a smaller focus group to ask for their opinion, and I received positive feedback on

this decision.

Complete Package

Page 9: Question 3

The feedback I received for the complete package was held outside of the classroom. I decided to create a group chat on WhatsApp to reach a different group of people (who are in the same age group as my target audience) who

have never seen my products before; this allowed me to get a fair and unbiased opinion. And the feedback I received was quite positive as there was

a lot of comments of how professional the whole package looked. They also commented on how this product was very relatable and that the religious themes were very subtle and did not seem as if the artist/production was

judging the viewer. However, they did mention that the message of the artist praying on the front CD cover was not clear enough, as it was very easy to miss the connotations portrayed within, and it could also be confusing if you don’t understand the link between the print products and music video. All-in-All, I have gathered that this complete package is a great move for contemporary gospel music,

making it vibrant/ relatable and mainstream.
