BAUER MEDIABauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations. Bauer is well known for publishing the magazines Q and Kerrang!, which both have similar target audiences to my own and follow the rock/indie genre. As these magazines are aimed at young adults, I am sure that Bauer would be able to market my magazine well and make it appealing to my target audience. Their TV and radio stations would also help to promote my magazine as this type of media appeals to the younger generation, specifically Bauers channels such as KISS FM and Magic. If Bauer was able to distribute my magazine this would help it efficiently and would be beneficial for me because of their expertise in popular music magazines.

IPC MEDIATime Inc UK is the UK’s biggest publisher of print and digital magazine content by circulation, engaging with almost half of UK adults in print and their award winning websites reach over 28 million global users each month. One of their most known magazines that I am interested in is NME, which is very similar to my own magazine in terms of style and target audience, so IPC would be very capable at marketing my magazine similarly to this. It also controls media for many other platforms such as TV, print, web, mobile and powers popular programmes such as MTV and Cartoon Network. Many young adults 16+ would be interested in watching MTV so would be the perfect place to promote my magazine. I feel IPC would be a good institution to work with as they are known to be professional and understand how to organise many different magazine genres, promoting them to their target audiences.

• Looking at both distributors it is evident that both Bauer Media and IPC Media would be suitable to distribute my magazine. Both companies have had phenomenal success with reaching my target audiences, and publish other magazines that have had great success generally. However, IPC Media would be the most beneficial for my magazine as they control many other platforms as well as print- including TV channels such as MTV which would help to engage my audience further. This would boost sales dramatically and efficiently market my magazine, as these channels have a young target audience of both male and female, similar to my own magazine.• As IPC owns other media platforms, this enables them to horizontally integrate and

can aid popularity through TV channels to my target audience and widen the audience. (the term integrate means the joining of something to make it work- creating a structure almost).
