Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• I chose DreamWorks as my distributer for my film because they produce a wide range of films with a wide range of genres

• This would mean that they have a number of different audiences watching their films.

• One of the more resent film they have created ‘the Girl on the Train’ this is a similar genre to my film therefore I know that DreamWorks already have a target audience suitable to my film.

Why is my product suitable for DreamWorks?

• As DreamWorks are most known for their Animated films, their main audience are young children and families.

• This is not the audience my film is targeted at as mine was targeted at young adult and teenagers.

• Therefore my film would benefit DreamWorks as it would bring in a different audience that might bring attention to the other genre films they distribute occasionally with this particular target audience.

• As DreamWorks makes a verity of different genres, the audience would be wide. • However they haven’t made many thrillers in the recent

years besides ‘the Girl on the Train’ whose target audience is older than mine being mainly 20-40 year olds• Therefore, my film would be able to attract a new audience

that isn’t prominent for DreamWorks.
