About Girls on the Run Our Program Girls on the Run New Hampshire, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, delivers life-changing character development programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grades. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, using a fun, experience- based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Over the course of the 10-week season, girls develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. Teams meet twice a week after school. NH offers a statewide program in the spring and fall. The innovative curriculum combines training for a celebratory 5K with interactive lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. Our Growth The New Hampshire council has grown tremendously! Established in 2001, over 15,700 girls have participated since 2007 and we anticipate close to 3,000 girls running in 2020. The program has emerged as one of the most effective Positive Youth Development Programs for girls in NH. In 2019 alone, a total of 2,714 girls participated. While continuing its impressive presence in Hillsborough and Rockingham counties, GOTR-NH is extremely proud of its consistent growth and now serves teams in all of New Hampshire’s ten counties. Our Races Girls on the Run New Hampshire hosts three 5K Celebrations each year. The non-competitive races are the “final lesson” in the curriculum and are the culminating achievement for the girls who will be “graduating” from the 10-week program. Girls are joined at the 5K events by volunteer coaches, parents, running buddies, friends and community runners from all over New Hampshire to share in the Celebration of health, inspiration, and camaraderie. The GOTR 5K is an empowering experience for all who participate!
