Going somewhere? OLYMPIC UPDATE ............ ........... THINGS ARE NOW BEGINNING TO warm up for the Olympics. We are being contact almost on a daily basis and being asked how we think we will manage service levels during the games and what should account customers do to ensure, as far as is possible, business as usual? I will leave the advice as to how to survive the games and how you can function as near as normal as possible a little bit nearer the games, so that it can be remembered and be of some use. This month I thought that I would remind you of the venues being used in and around London during the Olympics. These venues are not just the games venues but public “open air” large screen viewing sites. It will be August, it will be hot and these “open spaces” will be free to attend and will have been paid for by you either by local and/or national taxes – so why not go and enjoy? Here is a list of London Venues that will be seeing some action, in part or all, during the games from July 27th to 12th August outside of the Olympic Park: These are some of the Games events that you are able to see for free on the streets of London: MARATHON We are all well used to the annual London Marathon, but the Olympic Marathon will be a new experience for all as it is going to take a totally new route through London, indeed, the 2012 Olympic Marathon will include the tourist hotspots of central London and will stay north of the Thames. The start/finish area on The Mall will be ticketed, but that leaves the vast majority of the route open to the public. When is it? Women – Sunday 5th August 2012 Men – Sunday 12th August 2012 Where is it? All over central London, but north of the Thames. OLYMPIC UPDATE.......................THINGS ARE NOW BEGINNING TOwarm up for the Olympics. We arebeing contact almost on a dailybasis and being asked how we thinkwe will manage service levels duringthe games and what should accountcustomers do to ensure, as far as ispossible, business as usual?I will leave the advice as to how to survive the games and howyou can function as near as normal as possible a little bit nearerthe games, so that it can be remembered and be of some use.

This month I thought that I would remind you of the venues beingused in and around London during the Olympics. These venuesare not just the games venues but public “open air” large screenviewing sites. It will be August, it will be hot and these “openspaces” will be free to attend and will have been paid for by youeither by local and/or national taxes – so why not go and enjoy?

Here is a list of London Venues that will be seeing some action, inpart or all, during the games from July 27th to 12th Augustoutside of the Olympic Park:

These are some of the Games events that you are able to see forfree on the streets of London:

MARATHONWe are all well used to the annual London Marathon, but theOlympic Marathon will be a new experience for all as it is goingto take a totally new route through London, indeed, the 2012Olympic Marathon will include the tourist hotspots of centralLondon and will stay north of the Thames. The start/finish areaon The Mall will be ticketed, but that leaves the vast majority ofthe route open to the public.

TRIATHLONCompetitors will swim, cycle and run their way around Hyde Park. Although some of thegrandstands around the start and finish will be ticketed, there should be opportunities to see theathletes, particularly in the cycling and running stages of the race, for free.

When is it?Women – Saturday 4th August 2012Men – Tuesday 7th August 2012

Where is it?Hyde Park.

CYCLING ROAD RACE AND TIME TRIALThe track cycling in the Velodrome was always going to sell out, but there’s still plenty of opportunity to see ourRoad Cycling stars out on the streets of London and Surrey. The Time Trial is when the cyclists start at setintervals and so are racing against the clock, which is different to the Road Race where it is a mass start and thefirst to cross the finishing line wins. In both cases the speeds they can achieve are breathtaking.

When is it?Men’s Road Race – 28th July 2012Women’s Road Race – 29th July 2012Time Trials – 1st August 2012 (women morning, men afternoon)

Where is it?All over central London and down into Surrey.

ARCHERYIt’s sort of free. Or at least the “ranking rounds” are scheduled to be a free event. It’s not technically part of themain event as it’s more a whittling down to see which competitors will be paired against each other when thecompetition starts proper.

When is it?Friday 27th July 2012

Where is it?Lord’s Cricket Ground.
