What’s Happening At Rainbow Street? Kindergarten Orientation ‘They look so little’ was heard across the playground on Tuesday morning as our 2020 Kindergarten cohort came to school for their first orientation/transition session. And weren’t they ready for school! Off they went happily to the learning spaces whilst Mr Stevens and Miss Sayers spoke with the parents in the Hall. Thank you to:

Pop-up cinema

Rocketboy Pizza

Fire and Rescue NSW - LEGO donation

Griselda Buckland - face painting

Nick Bowers – photography

Julie Dillon Hodge - posters and screen slides

Katrina Allen - organising freezer and ice cream

And to all of the fantastic volunteers who made the night a huge success.

Editor’s Note: And let’s not forget the organising committee: Carol Ann Duffy, Craig Muldoon, Greg Dodwell and Isabel Cetin. Multicultural Day Wow! What a fabulous celebration of the myriad of cultures that make up our school community. Classroom activities focussed on language and stories and these were then followed by the annual Food Fair. What amazing tasting food we had for lunch. Some of the ‘plating up’ would give the masterchefs a run for their money! A huge thank you to all of the families who contributed to the Food Fair and those who were able to spend time at school helping with the food.

P&C Meeting The next meeting is on Monday night, 4 November 2019. Aside from the usual meeting items:

The school has been advised that we can proceed to merit selection for a classroom teacher position for 2020. The parent representative on the panel will be elected at the meeting.

During Connect Time Mrs Nalovski will present information about how learning support is provided at RSPS.

Hope to see you at the meeting. Enrolment Confirmation Forms Please ensure that your child has returned their 2020 Enrolment Confirmation form (the one on yellow paper). Early Stage 1 and Stage 3 classes have returned all of theirs – bravo KH, KR, KS, 4/5N, 5R, 5/6R and 5/6S! The return of these forms assists us with planning for next year. It is vital that we know numbers so that we can plan school staffing and class structures. Thank you to those who have already returned their forms.

Thank You Again So heartening to see such a large turn-out of happy, exited faces for our major “fun-raiser” for this Term — our inaugural Movie Night. Many, many thanks to Craig, Carol-Ann and Isabel, especially for the months of prep-work, planning and executing. I was also pleased to see so many parents volunteering for the night. I also want to thank the Principal and teachers who were last to leave after our clean-up. Hardly a trace left Saturday Morning!

Next Meeting Is this coming Monday, 4 November, in the Stage 3 building from 6 to 8pm. This will be the last General Meeting for 2019. Our Annual General Meeting is next month. Some of our Executive move on next year, I recommend thinking seriously about how you can contribute in 2020. “Many hands make light work” — if acting in good faith. All Executive positions are rendered vacant at the AGM. At the moment we have a President; two Vice Presidents; Secretary; Treasurer and non-office holding Executive members. All up for re-election or replacement. Without a functioning Executive, we can’t have a P&C.
