Building Update Visiting the site this morning it was noted that the walls are now up in the new Administration area and upstairs in A Block. Electricals including cabling have been laid. 2018 Information Booths The next information booths to be held at school are scheduled for:

Thursday 1 March at 2:30pm

Thursday 5 April at 2:30pm The booth will be located near the Admin building. Playground TRAC has asked that we remind all families that TRAC has use of the playground for their afternoon care. We ask that students, even under parent supervision, do not play in that area after school as it limits the area available for TRAC and also makes it difficult for supervision of students in their care. Thank you for your support with this. Assemblies Randwick Boys’ High School has kindly given us use of their Hall for our assemblies. Earlier this week a permission note was sent home. To enable your child to attend the assemblies, please sign the permission note and return it to your child’s class teacher ASAP. Reminder - The first 3-6 Assembly is today at 2pm and the first K-2 Assembly is next Friday, 16 February at 2pm. School Calendar We are close to finalising the calendar for Term 1. We are hoping to have the full calendar published on the school website by the end of next week but please refer to the calendar in the Rambler for upcoming events until then.

This is a NSW Government Office of Sport program to support families by making money available to help with registration fees and uniforms for their child/children's sport outside of schools. Schools and staff are not expected to have an administrative role, all enquiries are to the Office of Sport's website, or use the following link: https://sport.nsw.gov.au/sectordevelopment/activekids Supporting children and young people to make physical activity a life-long habit is a key priority of the Premier's. From The Library… Book Club Next week your child will receive a brochure

that is part of the Book Club. Rainbow Street PS uses an online system for ordering Book Club called ‘LOOP’. ‘LOOP’ is a linked online ordering and payment system for parents and carers. This system streamlines the ordering and delivery of books. NOTE: We are unable to accept cash or cheque payments. Payment by credit card using the LOOP system is the only way to purchase books. There is no need to bring in any paperwork to school. The last day for ordering for this issue will be Wednesday 21 February 2018. Ordered books will arrive later in Term 1. I hope many of our families will take the opportunity to order books through Book Club this term Kindergarten Library Literature Program A student who is an independent learner appreciates literature and is a self-motivated reader. During Kindergarten library lessons we will be learning to talk about the books we read. This week KS read Come Down Cat by Sonya Hartnett. Courage, love and pets are major themes in the book. It was fantastic to hear KS talk about their different pets and what courage looked like within the context of night fears. They also created some very creative cat paintings.

Scripture News Scripture groups commence this year on Thursday, 15 February 2018. I will endeavour to assist all students find their scripture group and settle in quickly. If you have any question or concerns, don’t hesitate to see me. Thank you. Mrs Jacquie Counsel Scripture Coordinator
