READY 4 CONStruction 2020 PROGRAM How it will be delivered Interested and motivated students who have a passion to learn more about our industry are invited to apply - we take a ‘quality over quantity’ approach. The program will be delivered at no cost to students via VETiS (funded by DESBT’s VET investment budget) and will have the following features: Hutchies Training provides schools with a high quality training program that meets Australian Skills Quality Authority requirements for CPC10111 Certificate I in Construction, however we also provide access to a real construction sites across South-East Queensland. • 1 day a week on a live site • Online & practical learning environments • 80 hours structured workplace learning • Construction White Card and Certificate I in Construction • Successful applicants will be expected to attend site 1 day/week for all the school year, gain a white card, do an induction, complete a Certificate I in Construction plus 80 hours of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL). • On-line delivery of the underpinning knowledge based on a series of ‘Tasks’ which cluster common aspects of the required competencies and the use of a unique webcam based learning management system allows us greater diversity of assessment, student responses and validity of the training undertaken. Our Learning Management System has been designed and built by Hutchinson Builders Trainers using videos and photos from our sites. • Practical training is on a live site undertaking real construction activities. • Understanding the variety of careers available and effective job application skills will be a central part of our program. • Coaching students on how to find and organise their own work placements so they have the skills to find their own employment once they are Ready 4 Construction. • Students will be offered 80 hours of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) with site teams or local subcontractors with at least a 1 week block to be completed in school holidays. overview
