    Report

    33rd

General Conference & General Assembly of CCIVS

15-21 October 2014, Seoul, Republic of Korea

We had the great chance to representEgyesek Youth Associationon the 33rd

    General Conference &

General Assembly ofCCIVS,Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (on 15-21th

October 2014 in Seoul, Korea. The event was hosted by IWO/Better World. More than 60 delegates

represented over 30 organizations from all over the world.

The first two days were dedicated to the General Conference of CCIVS, which theme was Vision and

Action to Change the World through International Voluntary Service. The theme refers to the new

long-term project of CCIVS, Vision to Action in which the partners work on the goals of CCIVS by

organizing trainings and thematic workcamps. Egyesek also joined the project; we will organize and

host a media training in June and send Hungarian volunteers to the thematic workcamps. During

the event the partners discussed the details of the project, finalized the program and the roles and

    responsibilities of the partners.

On the General Conference we got a great overview about the world-wide Peace and Human Right

movements and also about how CCIVS contributes to it. The Director of CCIVS, Victoria Lovelock

presented theRaising Peace campaign,an ambitious on-going project of CCIVS, which is addressed

to the aim of strengthening the role of international voluntary service organizations as key players

in the field of Peace and Human Rights Education. We also heard about different visions of

participation and inclusion by members represented 4 focal points of the world (Europe, Asia,

    Africa, South-America).

After the presentations we had the chance to discuss about the topics and different support

measures (trainings, networking, impact, finance and public relation) in deeper details in separated

working groups. We also created global strategies and plan of actions for the next two years.

    On the 3rd

day of the event we had the big honor to celebrate together with IWO its 15th

    birthday in

the National Assembly. The celebration was combined with a conference on the rapidly developing

workcamp movement in Korea. We heard speeches and interesting lectures about studies which

focused on the impact and recognition of IVS by national stakeholders, university professors,

    Korean volunteers and international partners.

In the last two days we continued with the General Assembly of CCIVS. We evaluated the network

and discussed about questions, topics related to the operation, coordination of CCIVS and

cooperation of the members. We all agreed that in the past few years the network became a strong

community of IVS organizations and the commitment and professionalism of the ExecutiveCommittee, the Secretariat and the members allow the network to operate on a high quality level.

We also defined what should be changed and improved in the future. These goals and the

previously worked-out action plans will give the framework of the new Executive Committee whose

members we chose by voting in the assembly. The official event finished with the congratulations

and the new EC members inauguration.

We used also the free time to discuss and brainstorm about possible partnerships with the other

delegates. These informal meetings led us to many ideas and plans on which we will build up new

    projects together in the future.

On the day of departure we took the chance to visit IWOs office, meet the staff and get to know

the activities and the working methods of the organization. It was great to see the motivation and

dedication of the colleagues and also to hear about the many successful projects that IWO runs.

We are very happy that we had the opportunity to participate in the event and experience this

international, multicultural atmosphere where warm support and professionalism really meet in

order to make the common vision true: create peace and equal opportunities for every people

around the world. We brought home a lot of inspirations, new ideas and plans which we are eager

to implement in the activity of Egyesek.

Our participation wouldnt have been possible without the support of theKorean Cultural CenterinBudapest. We would like to thank Mr Kim Jae Hwan, Director of Korean Cultural Center that he

gave us the chance to represent Egyesek Youth Association in Seoul.
