As United Methodists our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Of the many functions I serve, I am also the acting Assistant Youth Director. In that role, I want to thank all of you who supported the Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner. It was a great success and we made $850, which will be set aside for youth activities and

events. Ordinarily, we have between 12 and 15 youth who come on Sunday nights, sixth graders to high school seniors. In fact, the number of middle school students who come is large enough, and they are active enough, that we very much need to split the group into two so that younger youth can have their own time apart from senior high youth.

In my role as senior pastor, I want to remind you of the upcoming special events. We hold a communion service of 15 to 20 minutes in length every Wednesday at 7:15 am in the chapel. This Sunday, John Fuss will be leading the service and I will in Hobbs (at the District Superintendent’s request) helping St Paul’s Church with some strategic planning for their future. On Sunday, March 22, we have some very special music planned for the kids and the whole congregation, which you won’t want to miss. March 29th is Palm Sunday and the choir will perform the Ellingboe Requiem in the evening, 7:00 pm. Each day in Holy Week there will be a lunch and message at one of the downtown churches. Children’s church needs your help! This valuable ministry is one of the best ways we can teach our youngest members the importance of Jesus in their life. TWO TO CHOOSE FROM!

A District Lay Servant School will be held in Carlsbad on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Monte Sinai UMC. Basic will be taught and

some advanced classes. Lay Servants are asked to send requests to the District office of what class they want or need, so they

may be included in the decision of what classes to offer. Reg-istration forms will be available soon.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ The churches are offering a Lay Servants class on April 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Carrizozo. Class will begin at 9:00 a.m. The good news is you do not need to drive yourself to Carrizozo; Pastor Mills has offered the use of our van. Plan now to attend by picking up a registration form from the church office. The cost is $35.00 which includes the study book, lunch and transportation. For more information contact Jack Ahlen at 626-6190.

Saturday, April 4th from 11:00-1:30 we will have an Easter Egg

Hunt at Enchanted Lands Park. Immediately following the Easter

Egg hunt which will begin promptly at 11:00, we’ll have an

old-fashioned cook-out and get together! The church will provide

the hot-dogs and condiments. Just bring a side dish to share and

join us for the fun. Seats are limited, so don’t forget a lawn chair!

We are still collecting Easter Eggs for the kids. If you can help,

bring filled plastic eggs, no chocolate because they melt, to the

church office by Friday, March 27.

Date: Sunday, March 15

Time: 2:00 PM—4:00 PM

Location: FUMC Gallery

Dear Reverend Mills,

With the anniversary of my mother’s passing, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your

service this past September as we laid my mother to rest in the Columbarium. It’s very

comforting to know that she is memorialized in the church where she was married, and where

her brother Steve, and many of our family and friends still attend today. It is truly a special

place for our family so please accept this token of appreciation for the benefit of the church and

your work.

Sincerely,

T H A N K Y O U !

Are you graduating from

high school this year? If so,

please contact the church

office at 575-622-1881. We

would love to include you in

our Senior Sunday

celebration.

On March 11,2015 our children began their

second mission project. Their goal is

to decorate 120 plastic Easter eggs,

each with a pompom spring animal

and an inspirational message inside. On April 3,

2015, the children we give their decorated eggs

to the Mission Arch nursing home residents.
