Wireless Identification and the Internet of Things

Implementation of tracking and tracing technologies

– typically by the use of Wireless Identification – have

already increased efficiency and competitiveness for

a number of companies, in Denmark and around the

world.

But, most companies – private as well as public – haven’t

even started yet.

We want to change this by making the possibilities,

opportunities and successful implementations known to

more organizations. This is why we organize the annual

RFID i Danmark conference – now for the 6th time.

Over the years we have learned that “RFID” is too

narrow and too technical to attract many of the people

we want to attend the conference. All the wireless

technologies used for Identification and Automatic

Data Capture are covered at the conference – which is

why we have changed from the term “RFID” to “Wireless

Identification”. And this year we are focusing on Internet

of Things – visions, projects and how Wireless

Identification and Automatic Data Capture play a

significant role.

Our focus is not on the technologies but rather on the

Business cases, the projects, processes and people;

• Why did the companies implement tracking and

tracing technology?

• Have significant advantages been achieved?

• How could they justify the initial investment?

• What Lessons learned during the implementation of

tracking and tracing?

• What to do different, if they were to start from scratch

again?

• Future plans with more tracking and tracing?

To learn more about current solutions and products

you get this unique opportunity to explore our RFID

exhibition. Where suppliers will be ready to explain,

demonstrate and answer your questions.

Hope you will have a great time at the conference!

Henrik B. Granau

Founder of RFID i Danmark

The conference offers

· Insight in innovative RFID solutions

· Insight into RFID cost / benefit

· Inspiration for your own business

· Networking and knowledge sharing

While Break-Out Sessions and Workshops are conducted in parallel in separate rooms, the following presentations are presented in Auditorium 1.

Smart Tool tracking - Stanley Black & Decker by Teemu Ainasoja, VoyanticWith the Facom® branded UHF RFID equipped tool product family, Stanley Black & Decker addresses the customer needs in Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Management and tool traceability, which are especially critical in industries like aerospace, transportation, food industry, oil & gas and more generally energy market segments. For a company like Stanley Black & Decker, with the experience of delivering high quality products for decades, the importance of testing each tagged tool is obvious. Every Facom RFID tool delivered to a customer is tested - guaranteeing stable read range for the tagged tool and allowing reliable application functionality.

RFID Brings Visibility to Wind Energy Services by DHL MyIdentificationA combination of UHF and HF RFID tags is helping SSC Wind to reduce the incidence of lost equipment at its job sites from 75 percent to 2 percent, and to ensure that recalibration is performed on time. The solution was supplied by track-and-trace systems provider DHL-MyIDentification, with RFID tags attached to tools.

IoT Technology and Innovation in public environment by Zheng Li-Rong and Lucas AhlströmText to be provided ….

Lunch and Exhibition

LEGO Using RFID in Consumer Products by Henning Mikkelsen, LEGO Systems A/SLet creativity be the guide to a building and gaming adventure – journey through unexpected worlds and team-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. Play with different minifigures from different worlds together in one LEGO® videogame, and use each other’s vehicles and gadgets in a way never before possible. Get ready to break the rules, because the only rule with LEGO® Dimensions™ is that there are no rules…. When using RFID in toys you can add new dimensions to the products but how is in Production and Logistics when you add a new unique identifier in a chip to a product?

Using RFID as a communication gateway to sensors by Jörg Rehder, DELTADELTA has developed a RFID sensor platform using RFID as a no-power wireless bridge. With the platform you can use your Smartphone to read out sensor data (temperature, humidity, etc.). The platform is rapid way to develop prototypes of Smart/Intelligent products. This is another way to use RFID for entering the Internet of Things area and DELTA will show us a list of actual applications based upon the platform.

Hygiene and Access Control by Emil Lund and Frederik Daugaard Andersen, Berendsen Textil ServiceFor many companies, especially pharmaceutical – It is vital to maintain a high level of hygiene and access control. These factors are maintained by using SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and being in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance. Contemporary documentation for many companies remain signed documents which simply state that, employees have to uphold certain rules and regulations. This does not ensure that employees actually uphold these rules, hence the need of a system that can provide proper documentation of behavior and hygiene.

IoT/RFID technologies are around the world transform-

ing the way Retailers are running their business.

In e-business you have complete transparency with col-

lected data on customers behavior, history and prefer-

ences. A situation we are only just dreaming of in physi-

cal retail stores – however, which relatively easy could be

achieved by implementing new technologies.

An increasing number of retailers have started using new

technologies to recognise customers in-store and ana-

lysing how they engage with brands in a shop.

With the growing uptake of smart utilities devices in the

home, there is evidence that consumers are growing in

confidence when it comes to using connected technolo-

gies for every-day processes.

The “IoT/RFID in Retail” session will have its focus on

international cases and best practises, technological op-

portunities and actual benefits gained by implementing

IoT/RFID.

The session will be in English.

Retail Workshop

IoT/RFID in Retail Workshop 11.30-12.40 in Auditorium 2

kontrolleres, optimeres i såkaldte product clouds.

Velkomst og introduktion

v/ Tejs Scharling, Faglig koordinator, Infinit/Sporings- og

positioneringstjenester.

Product cloud – den digitale infrastruktur,

v/ Jakob Langdal, Senior Software Architect, PhD, Alex-

andra Instituttet

Connectivity

v/ Jesper Nielsen, Senior R&D Engineer, Alexandra Insti-

tuttet

v/ Alexandre Alapetite, Senior Software/ICT Engineer,

PhD, Alexandra Instituttet

it-funktionalitet. Muligheden for at kunne afprøve nye

designs og interaktionskoncepter igennem prototyper er

en vigtig konkurrenceparameter. Alexandre giver en in-

Oplæggene tager udgangspunkt i hvordan Alexandra

I USA,

ninger.

hvordan Moods of Norway ikke kun anvender RFID

dansk detailhandel.

nikerer over Internettet.

udviklingen i detailhandelen i Danmark.

Workshoppen vil koncentrere sig fuldstændigt om detail-

handelen i Danmark.

detailhandel.

RFID i Danmark focus on strengthening the opportunities

for exchanging experiences – especially between compa-

nies, who has practical experience in the shared fields of

interest. It could be logistics, traceability, production, retail,

health care etc.

Community building today can happen effectively even

though all activity happens on the internet. A great supple-

ment to this is still meeting in person, seminars, company

visits etc. At RFID i Danmark we work with a combination of

virtual and physical networking.

As a member of RFID i Danmark you get access to webinars

and other information for only kr. 300 per year.

If you want to be a member of the more extensive network-

ing activities there are the following options

· For companies with more than 9 employees the annual

fee is kr. 6.400 ex. VAT and includes that 2 persons from

the company can participate in the networking meetings.

· For companies with less than 10 employees the annual

fee is kr. 3.200 ex. VAT and includes that 1 person from the

company can participate in the networking meetings.

· For private persons wanting to participate in networking

meetings the annual fee is kr. 1.800 ex. VAT.

Your challenges as starting point at

the networking meetings

The members chooses the agenda themselves, hence the

debate is always based on your current challenges. Ex-

change of experience is the keyword.
