Tuesday, April 6: Hambuger hot dish, salad and dessert. S enior Menu O bituary Robert (Bob) H. Brose, 96, passed away peacefully Thurs- day, March 25, 2021, at Gunder- sen Health System. Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private family funeral service will be held. He was born to George and Ethel Brose August 23, 1924 in Ray, the youngest of four chil- dren. After graduating from high school, he volunteered, joining the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. He served in the Pacific The- ater, becoming part of Ameri- ca’s Greatest Generation. He was a proud veteran, and we are proud of him for his ser- vice. After the war he married Winnifred “Winnie” Williamson, August 29, 1948, in North Da- kota, and lived there until 1957, when they moved with their three children to the northside of La Crosse, Wisc. They be- came active “Northsiders” as supporters of various organiza- tions – PTA, Logan sports, Beth- el Lutheran Church, and mobile meals to name a few. He worked various jobs such as a bread route driver, office manager at La Crosse Cooler Co, and as a clerk with the city of La Crosse Treasurer’s office until his retirement. However, his fa- vorite job after retirement, was as a crossing guard on George Street where he became a “rock star” among the many kids he safely helped on their way to Roosevelt Elementary School. Years later, he and Winnie be- came residents of Springbrook Assisted Living, Onalaska. Af- ter her untimely death in 2012, he adopted a rescue dog (Bel- la) from the humane society, and together they became the “poster picture” for advertising Springbrook, Onalaska. A special thanks to the staff and his many friends at Spring- brook for their kindness and support. He will be greatly missed. We also appreciate the loving care he received at Gundersen Health System dur- ing his final days. He is survived by three chil- dren, William (Kathy) Brose, Onalaska, Brian (Maralou) Brose, Dodge Center, Minneso- ta, and Sue (Tom) Gullette, The Villages, Florida; a sister, Har- riet Karrib, Madison, Wiscon- sin; four grandchildren, Stacy (Aaron) Giddings, Scott Brose, Andrew (Erin) Brose, and Mere- dith Brose; and five great-grand- children, Emma, Jack, Vivien, Sloane, and Karsyn. He was preceded in death by parents, brother Glenn, and sis- ter Hazel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church, La Crosse or the Coulee Region Humane Society. Ray students who placed in the Spelling Bee are Randy Simpson, Gail Solberg, Lisa Larsen, Mindi Brown, Michelle Ross, Jan Halseth, and Michelle Soine. The Tioga High School Track Team will participate in the State Indoor Track Meet to be held in Fargo. Students are Troy Heimdahl, Mark Olson, Steve Klevenberg, Mark Meyer, Kelly Fetzer, Jan Heimdal, Mark Grindy, Dona Olson, Rachel Pederson, Merna Imsland, and Pam Auen. Maxine Frisinger of Tioga is the honored guest at the Ameri- can Legion Birthday Party held in Tioga. She is given a Handi- cap Award Certificate signed by Governor Allen Olson. The award is given to Maxine as the outstanding employed handi- capped citizen of the Tioga Community. The obituaries of Mrs. Mar- grith McGregor, Paul Hanson, Mrs. Alice Smith, Mrs. Kathryn Peyton are announced. Fifty Years Ago Ralph Lockwood of KTGO Radio, Tioga, is awarded $10.00 by the Associated Press, Bis- marck, for the best news story in February. Ralph reported the story to the Associated Press of the Ray Farmers Union El- evator Fire. A large number of radio stations in North Dakota used the direct report from the Tioga Station. The obituary of Mrs. John Lies is announced. Baby boys are born to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Van Berkom of Tioga and Mr. and Mrs. Dar- ryl Carpenter of Tioga. Larry Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis of Tioga is pro- moted from P.F.C. to Sp/4 Class in February and has now been chosen Outstanding Soldier for the month of March. Miss Sarah Andrews, daugh- ter of Congressman and Mrs. Mark Andrews is named North Dakota’s 1971 Cherry Blossom Princess by the North Dakota State Society in Washington, D.C. Robert (Bob) H. Brose, 96, passed away peacefully Thurs-day, March 25, 2021, at Gunder-sen Health System.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private family funeral service will be held.

He was born to George and Ethel Brose August 23, 1924 in Ray, the youngest of four chil-dren. After graduating from high school, he volunteered, joining the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. He served in the Pacific The-ater, becoming part of Ameri-ca’s Greatest Generation.

He was a proud veteran, and we are proud of him for his ser-vice.
